We have a white elephant exchange tomorrow.

I was thinking a package of toilet paper wrapped ... bigger is better right?

What have you brought in the past ... loved? hated?

I've done quite a few. Someone brought a framed picture of himself from high school, it was pretty funny. I once received about 10 original Pearl Jam LPs (from a gal that used to work for the band) ... I was pretty stoked! I also bought really bad movies, a bunch of stuff from the dollar store, etc ....

Jessica, it's when you exchange cheap funny (sometimes gag gifts). The rules vary, but usually you draw numbers and people go in order and they can swap with an opened gift or choose a new one.

We photoshoped a picture of my FIL on Borat's Mankini picture and are going to frame it for DH's gift.

Our friends once knew someone who thought you really brought a "white elephant" So this person went out and bought this beautiful Crystal Elephant and gave it out as the gift.

I think the TP is a great idea and who doesn't use TP!?

we always endup doing good white elephant gifts :) but I had a girlfriends that said she got a HUGE peppermint stick that was like 2 feet long and 2 inches thick!!!!!!!! but I think the thick Charming TP would be a GREAT white elephant:thumbup:

I've gotten the case of TP before. Sad thing is grandma (who brought it) didn't see it as a white elephant gift...and it wasn't exactly a white elephant exchange either.

One of the funniest ones I've seen was a huge box that everyone wanted it b/c it looked so promising -- turned out to be a very cheesy Mexican sombrero that someone had brought back as a souvenier and had been in their garage for about 20 years.

We always do fun stuff from the thrift/resale/secondhand shop. One year we put together a combo of out of date exercise tapes, a women's body image book and a diet cookbook that we found at a secondhand store here. That got a lot of laughs. Another time we found this really bad painting of a knight and wrapped it up. My sister got that one and she about fell off of her chair when she opened it. :D You can find a lot of funny stuff for less than $10 if you know where to look! :)

We've been doing this with my husband's business for a few years -

I LOVE getting the lady's gift who always included a gift card to the movies. Last year it was in (notably) fugly snowmen tumblers, this year it was in popcorn.

I sent my DH with the Straight No Chaser CD.

my BF does these with her family..Things they have exchanged are
old board games or puzzles, pacifiers, a toilet bowl seat, a wig, eye masks (the kind that keep they light out when ya sleep), last years calendar....ummm that's all I can think of at the moment. HTH some.

Let's see... I've been involved in a number of these when I was working...

HUGE box of glass bowls from someone's wedding
A box of pens that didn't write
That toilet paper dispenser for wet toilet paper... yeah, my company made that
Cheap wine
Ugly vase with fake flowers
Shot glasses from different cities (from Goodwill)
Wig and ugly dress... great if a guy gets it... LOL

jsikardi - Straight no Chaser... is that a bad CD? I just gave that as a gift to my son's speach teacher today... now I'm worried!!
