My husband was telling me a little while ago that his brother bought their mom a big box of chocolates somewhere (he isnt sure where) for her birthday. He said it was pretty expensive though and when she opened it it was full of some kind of bugs. They called the company and the person they spoke to said yea they know about them that they got a contaminated shipment and they are refunding the money. I have to wonder though why if they knew this shipment was contaminated why they woul.d still be selling it? All I can say is YUCK!! I will see if I can find out where it is from and what kind it is so everyone can avoid it just in case. I dont eat alot of chocolate as it is but I will defenitely be avoiding it for a long while now.

well if ANYTHING can make a bug taste good, it's chocolate! :p

(and can you blame the little buggies?) ha ha!

he said he thinks they are called spanish moths? IDK if that is what they are or not...I just dont get why the shipment was not pulled from the shelves immediately

yes so glad I dont eat alot of it LOL I loved chocolate as a kid and between getting really sick after eating chocolate cake then eating a Mr. Goodbar with wormy type bugs I caant eat it anymore

I read this on purpose :P because...I'm on like day 6 of this permanent interstitial cystitis diet I have to be on and I'm not allowed soda, coffee, tea, chocolate, fruit, and a crapload of other stuff...of all of it, I miss chocolate the most. So I thought if I could gross myself out it would make me feel better :D It does! ;)

LOL Lena...I am kinda glad I did not see it. Apparently I looked it up and if the chocolate has nuts it more likely to get these bugs. They are like little worms then turn into some sort of moth looking thing. Hope that diet helps you. The toughest thing for me would be the tea. I have had alot of issues with UTI's and the doctors said to give up soda so I did that and was ok with it but sweet tea?? Come on....its my all time favorite drink!!

They actually sell chocolate covered bugs somewhere out there but I personally would not eat them...

I still heart chocolate and always will, unless maybe if i was the one to open the box with bugs in it...gross!

I'm still good. In fact, this thread reminded me that I bought some chocolate covered macadamias today, which I proceeded to munch while reading the rest of the thread. :D

On my old synchronized skating team, we had a skater whose family was from Poland. She went to visit them and brought back a huge bag of chocolate which she gave out to everyone. I opened up my individually wrapped chocolate and found a little worm....it was disgusting! YUCK! It makes me gag just thinking about it!

There is a lot out there in the food processing you don't want to know about :p

I know what you mean! I was working in a residential care facility a couple years ago... I opened a can of beans for the residents and there was a weird bug in it! Then about a week later I went to make pancakes and there were a bunch of weird beetle things in the just opened box of pancake mix!!!
Disgusting!!!
