Shipping Conundrum

I ordered a few gifts from the NBC store and they only ship Fed Ex. I figured I'd try it and see what happened. We use a PO box and our physical address comes up unrecognizable on GPS systems, so Fed Ex and UPS are generally "out" for us...when attempting to order something, it just won't go through.

Well my order went through with my PO box. I never entered our physical address at all. It didn't even give me a spot to, it just copied my PO Box over from paypal when I paid.

Now, it says it has shipped via Fed Ex overnight...but Fed Ex's site clearly states they can't deliver to PO Boxes. Anyone have ANY ideas???I'm stumped. :P

Call both NBC & Fed Ex and see if you can get the package rerouted, or delivered to a neighbor or friend in town that they might be able to track. But you'll need to call or it's probably going to sit in limbo.

Thanks Darcy!

I did just do some research and it looks like it *may* automatically be shipped through USPS instead, according to NBC's FAQ, but the email stating it was shipped Fed Ex is what is confusing. I sent a customer service email to them so hopefully we'll get to the bottom of it.

It's terrible, we don't have any friends or family in town, either. Very frustrating! Gabriel's diapers have to be delivered every month and they deliver them to his school. Makes it very interesting during the summer months! :p

They may ship it FedEx to your local post office. Can't remember what FedEx calls that, but UPS calls it Mail Innovations. They ship carrier to the post office, then the post office delivers. Happens to me a lot. UPS won't deliver to our house unless we are home, so I prefer USPS.

that's quite possibly the dumbest thing ever!!! WTH did they do BEFORE GPS!?!? sounds to me like a lame excuse.....get a freaking MAP for cripes sake!!!!! :cursing:

sorry lena....hope your goodies get to you safe and sound!!!!

lol, well the family has owned this house for 30 years and the house just GOT an address two years ago :p when the county implemented an Emergency 911 system. Prior to that we were "the house by the church at the bottom of the hill, etc"...when they gave us an address and it was Wilderness Road ......well that should explain it. Our property is inside Daniel Boone National Forest. Yup, we are actually inside the forest :) Good times, good times. :)

:D you live in the sticks, literally!

Our county finally gave our roads real names (the roads were county road 1, county road 2 etc) and numbers on them last year for the 911 system, so I can definitely relate as we had a PO Box for mail too. I had to use County Road 62 - 6th House on Left for a street address for anything going UPS or Fed Ex. Many (most) websites would not accept an order because of course that wasn't in their system when they check addresses. And it drove me nuts when I would select USPS for shipping option, and only give the po box, and yet they would decide to ship it UPS.

Fortunately our UPS & Fed Ex Drivers were really good at dealing with that. The post office is in town and had a real address so we could use that for a street address, but the drivers would know where we really live :)

I have also had a lot of things that were sent Fed Ex get mailed to the post office at the end, one time I think the fed ex driver paid it himself at our post office lol (it was a really small package)

Anyway, I would call Fed Ex and discuss it with them, also have your phone number put in their system by your name/address so a driver can call for directions.

lately anytime something is sent to us by fedex, it's actually delivered by our mail lady. works for me because she's way nicer. :p

I work in shipping/logistics and deal with carriers like Fed Ex and UPS all the time.

trust me - they want you to have the package as bad as you want to have it! You should call Fed Ex for sure, let them know about the situation. Chances are, if you were given Fed Ex tracking info, it was handed to Fed Ex and not one of the Fed Ex/USPS hybrid solutions (they usually give you tracking infromation that comes from USPS if the post office is involved).

Fed Ex processes are VERY automated - it might not be "caught" as a problem delivery until they make one attempt and realize it can't be delivered anywhere - but if you call Fed Ex customer service they'll be able to have a message available for your local Fed Ex delivery location once your local guys realize there's a problem with the address.

Good luck!!
