hmmm...what do I want my QT to look like? Because I'm definitely gonna have to have one now. I'm thinking since I live on Borneo, maybe I could have a little orang utan with me.

Jamie, are you a big ice skater? We actually have a mall with an ice skating rink here, and we were thinking about taking our (almost 3 year old) son. Do you think that's too little?

I'm not Jamie..but my 3yr old daughter has been a few times..and I know Kristins daughter takes skating lessons and she's only 4 and has been taking them awhile I believe

Jamies teaches skating..not sure what ages though

Can't wait to see your QT Jamie!!!

Kellie I'm soo curious what took you to Malaysia?

I do coach figure skating for a living, I've been skating since I was 4. I don't think it's too little to go, provided you can find the proper fitting skates and helmet, which is sometimes challenging at that age, because they are small.

I wouldn't take him to lessons right away (eta...maybe you could take him yourself first, to see how he would react, if you know how to skate), they have a SHORT attention span, and it makes coaches crazy LOL! Amelia started lessons when she was 3 1/2, Benjamin when he was 5.

We came overseas five years ago while Joel was working on his masters; we lived in Indonesia for a year learning language and teaching English, and then we moved to Malaysia. We live on the island of Borneo, and in our state alone there are over 40 different ethnic groups, each with their own distinct language and culture. It's been so interesting and fun! We loved it so much that after we went home last summer, we decided to come back. Joel is a consultant for a tourism agency in the US, and we take groups around to villages and travel throughout the region. It's a great place to raise kids; people are friendly, and life is slow paced, but there are still the nice amenities of modern living, like high speed Internet and Mcdonalds. ;) Plus, it's warm year round, and we HATE to be cold. You should come visit some time!
