I Need iTunes Help

iTunes is installed on Joel's computer. Joel's computer does not have a DVD drive and therefore cannot be used to burn a CD.

Kellie's computer does NOT have iTunes installed but it DOES have a DVD burner and therefore CAN be used to burn a CD.

The question is, can I copy the music from iTunes onto my flash drive and put them on my computer and burn them to a CD? Or do I have to use iTunes to burn them to a CD and if so can I just install it to my computer add the handful of songs I want on a CD and then delete it all?

Thanks in advance for the avalanche of answers I know i am going to receive. :)

You can definitely copy the files directly from the iTunes library to your computer using the flash drive. The issue after that though is they will be in the iTunes format, m4a, so in order to play them you would need a player that can either read that format (I think WinAmp can?) or you would need to convert them to a file format that most players understand, like mp3.

As far as burning them that gets trickier. Where are you looking to play the cd? Because that will determine what format you ultimately need them in.

The easiest option is probably just installing iTunes on your computer because it will convert the m4a files for you to whatever format you need.

That's not entirely true...it will 'convert' the files if you're burning just an audio CD (with like up to 20 songs), but it won't let you burn mp3 discs. At least not with older purchased songs (before they changed their license agreement).

Thanks for the input! I finally downloaded it to my computer which was easier because Joel has a netbook and I HATE having to look at that itty bitty screen.

CDs are burned and ready to go. :)
