I did it this weekend. I finally have the kitchen cleaned..............
But I have 12 meals in the freezer!!!!!!!!

Anyone else do it?
Any tips and recipes to share?

Yep - I do a version of it all the time. I do it in batches more than just trying to get full meals. I double triple and quadruple some meals and stick up the extra to build my stock.

Good for you! I hope you love it and keep it up - it can be so handy!

That is amazing! I haven't done it yet, but I would love to know the recipes you did.

that is awesome!! I am waiting to get a deep frezzer because with 6 people, I really need to do this...would make my life ALOT easier!!!!

You CAN do it with a fridge top freezer (the ones on the bottom stink) or a side by side LOL

Just do meals that can be stored flat. Do them in gallon zip top bags, freeze them flat, then stack them like record albums in your freezer. You'd be amazed at how many you can fit in to save yourself some time down the road. Even if you don't do a whole month at a time, you can do chunks at a time and really help yourself out!

This was the site that set me off on my path.
That and a bumper crop of apples. I had to get a
freezer after we had too much to deal with.
I got my freezer off craigslist.

Ooooh, they have a baby food part on there! :) I wanted to make my own baby food for my son when he was little, but we lived in an apartment with a TINY kitchen... now that we're in our own house with a custom kitchen!.. woot! :) I'm going to make some homemade baby food for my daughter. Thanks for the link! :)

The easiest way I found to start is just by making double batches of what you normally cook and freezing the second batch either before or after cooking. Like if you make marinated pork chops with ginger rice. Make a double batch of marinade and put half in a freezer bag with the amount of pork chops needed and freeze them. If you make lasagna boil twice the noodles and double the rest of the ingredients and make 2 batches. Do one in a disposeable foil tray, and freeze it before baking (or after). I'll make double sized batches of soup & freeze half or double size pot roast and the portion it out into freezer baggies. I laos cooke twice as much chicken as I need and freeze the extra for quick taco or burrito filling. I find it easier to double as I go rather than make a bunch of different dishes.
