I'm lusting after a Dyson

UGH. I want a Dyson so badly. DH said I could get it, but I have guilt.

We've had a Rainbow vac (that we spent a small fortune on) for like 13 years now that still works great, but it's such a pain to use. So therefor I avoid vacuuming because I don't want to mess with it.

Seriously though, I'm seeing Dysons in my dreams.

Do you have one? Love it?

Love it love it love it. I bought mine as a refurb on woot.com, bu you can get them on ebay that way, too. I spent half of the ticket cost to do it - great deal.

I tried the rolling ball one and didn't like it as well, but the flooring I was trying it on probably was what made the difference - probably doesn't work as well on tile floor as it would on carpet. I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE mine, though!!!

Dh had one when we got married. He swore by it, I mean he actually loves to vacuum because of it. LOL And I have to say, it does seem to pick up a lot. :)

LOVE THEM!! mine is almost 4 years old. it is starting to wear down a bit, but still is fine. i have been eying the ball one or the one for pet hair. they are SO worth the money!!

I love mine too, like Darcy I bought mine on Woot, it's the old yellow one but we think it Rocks! I have Pergo in the majority of my house but I use it all the time.

I can't believe you are lusting after a hoover. Of all the things you could lust after a vaccuum cleaner would not be high on my list of priorities - sexy men, yes, chocolate, yes, but a hoover

lol!! ya know, if people had told me when i was young that someday you'll get excited over new appliances, i'd have laughed. but its nice to have nice things, lol. you should see me use my Bosch dishwasher; its my best friend lmao!

Vac for 13 years? You deserve to get a new one!! :) Of course I have an Oreck that my mom got me for our wedding 5 years ago... and it has a 20 year warrenty... I have a bit to go yet before I can get a different one...

I have one. Honestly I wish I had done more research on it because I don't feel it is a great vacuum. I've had it for about 3 years so maybe they have done some improvements in the last few years. I have a regular yellow Dyson, but the Dyson animal has a much higher rating. I just looked at consumer reports and they say the top upright vacuums are the Hoover Windtunnel Anniversary edition and the Hoover Platium Bagged. And they are half the price of the Dyson. If you decide on the Dyson, check out Costco because they have a great return policy.

I have a Dyson animal, and I think it is about 4 years old. I've had a few small problems, but they are SO minor compared to all the other problems I had with all my other vacuums before this. I had to replace the main hose, and had a horrible time finding them, so I bought a fake version of it on eBay. It works ok, but is a little loose and comes out if I'm using the attachments and pulling too hard on it.

I have very uneven saltillo tiles downstairs, so I can't sweep it, so I've always had to vacuum it. The hard floor attachment works great for it. I use that for my pergo flooring too in the living room and office. Then, I can put on my carpet attachment and do the stairs, and then it puts together extremely easy and I can vacuum upstairs where there is carpet.

I would say the main complaint is that I have no idea where to have it fixed if there is a problem. There really doesn't seem to be anywhere to service them. That being said, I've talked with my dh about getting another one just to keep upstairs, and if I ever did have to replace it, I would not hesitate getting another one! We have 4 cats right now and a dog...plus 3 of my boys are at home...and I need a GOOD vacuum!!

Oh, and I bought mine at Target when they were offering a $100 Target GC with purchase! I guess no one can really sell them at a discounted price, but they can offer something like that. You might see if anyone is offering a deal like that!

I bought a Dyson about 2 years ago. I had a Hoover Windtunnel and a Kirby (kept one on each floor of the house). The Dyson picked up soooo much stuff that both vacuums had missed it was disgusting. I sold both of them at a garage sale the following month!

I have the purple one - the one good for pets - and The Thing Is Incredible.

After I got over my nausea over how much it picked up that my other vacuum missed, and the fact that I have to empty the wee basket 3 times when vacuuming 2 rooms, I'm impressed.

Caveats - I have one long-haired Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (dog hair Everywhere) and my guys are Cheerios and chips munchie monsters. Do Not Use it for Christmas tree needles - you need to keep a shop-vac or your old vacuum around for that - think the Dyson is just too sensitive for the big stuff.

I've had mine for going on 6 years now. LOVE it still, I would buy one again. We have the purple one with the pet hair attachment for furniture. Love that little guy!

We have the Dyson Animal Ball, and I *love* it! I never knew that I could love a vacuum so much. LOL! I didn't know if I would like the ball, but I loooooooooove it -- it moves around furniture effortlessly. LOVE IT!

3 years ago, Conumer reports directed us to our vacuum that was ??$150? ... and it SUCKS ( sucks not, rather)...big sticker on the front says it out cleans dyson by 50% ... I've never had a dyson but if it does outclean a dyson then everyone is lying .. because this things leaves 1/2 the gunk behind :D

I want a DYSON :D
consumer reports

I have the purple pet hair one and LOVE IT! Its the best vacuum that I have ever owned! I have owned just about every cheap brand out there, Dirt devil, hoover, ereka, bissle etc the dyson is such a GREAT vacuum!!!! GET It!

You should go for it!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Dyson! Seriously the best vacuum ever! We have the one for pet hair I think it's called Animal... I dk it's purple though. My husband bought it and I thought he was crazy for spending all of that money on a vacuum but it was definitely worth it! I know it's weird to love a vacuum but I definitely do :)

I posted my comment and then read yours lol... we have the same purple one :)

wow, so many others like me adore their Dyson! mine is purple and teal. its not the animal, though if i upgrade to a new one i want that one. i have 2 dogs. when i sweep my room, i empty it out halfway through! it gets SO much off the floor. its so gross, lol.

I should mention mine is the DC-14. It is possible that I got a rare dud, but I can wholeheartedly say that I do not share that Dyson love. It works if I go over a strip of carpet several times, but it wasn't worth the money. I went to a vacuum store about a year ago and tested this one that was amazing. Can't remember the name of it but it looked very old fashioned. LOL Do you have a vacuum store? Go and play!

I want the animal one so bad but we have a Rainbow now and dh won't let me spend the $$ on a dyson..I do love my Rainbow though and it helps with the allergies soooooo well so I can't really justify the cost of a Dyson right now
