In case you're not sure what to make for dinner tonight...

So cool, Traci! And it sounds great. Dh loves soup so we're totally going to try this one.

Thanks for pointing me to the web site, too ... will have to browse it some more. :D

My DH doesn't do beans either, but I'm slowly trying to change things. I made lentil soup last week and he really liked it. He thought they were peas at first and asked "how did you make this soup not taste like peas?"

ha, ha, ha. good one.

Oh yum, Traci - I was just thinking about how to make something like it to start our introduction into trying to eat beans. Connor and I would love it!

You know you can also blend this a bit to get the items broken up a little instead of just having big beans. I plan on stick blending a good chunk of those beans before adding it to the soup - it thickens it up, and makes you have fewer beans to bite into LOL

Yeah, I've seen recipes like that before too but my family can't stand the ground up bean texture. That, and mixing the sour cream up in the end makes it nice and thick too.

I like beans but hate onions. Might make this up and omit the onions. Of course it would be in like two or three months time LOL cause its still in the 90's here!!

Jessica - have you tried shallots instead? My husband absolutely hates onions in anything, but loves the taste of onion, so we use onion powder a lot. But I've recently been using shallots as a substitute and he likes them just fine, as long as I keep them pretty finely minced. They aren't anywhere near as strong, but still give some flavor missing for me in a lot of recipes if we aren't using any onion product.

The onions are just used for flavor and cook into invisibility, if that helps? lol

Great. I stay off line all day, have no idea what to make for dinner, do a 4 o'clock grocery store run and end up eating leftovers. I log in here afterwards, and you have a tasty suggestion that uses ingredients I actually have in my house.

Never again will I go all day without logging in to see you guys.

I like the beans ground up -- one of my favorite recipes is a black soup by Mark Miller that's so nice and pasty! LOL! :D
