I can't live like this...

When we got mice last year, we just set some traps with peanut butter and that was the end of it. I still keep a couple set traps in the garage, just in case another one comes back. It grossed me out to clean up mouse droppings, and I threw out tons of food too. As for spiders, we spray the outside of our house with spray every couple months. I can always tell when we need to spray again, because I'll see a bug or two around. I also keeep the glue boards (meant for mice) under furniture near doors and walls and they are really great for catching spiders and bugs. I'm really not into having chemicals of that sort in my house with kids. Good luck! At least you haven't found scorpions or snakes in the house?

We live in a mobile home and have for almost 12 years. We had an exterminator come out for *ick* roaches and told them we had mice at the same time. They put mouse traps under the skirting and then we put foil around all the pipes into the house (mice won't chew threw foil and that's where they were getting into the house). That was probably 10 years ago, and neither mice nor other pests have returned.

Then again, we have 3 cats, so that helps with mice.

So, we found two snap traps in a drawer in our kitchen (didn't make it to the store yesterday) and we set them out last night. Woke up this morning to TWO dead mice. Strangely, I felt a little sad and guilty about killing the little mice. rofl

Also with the spiders.. make sure you spray outside of the house, that will stop many from even coming in.

We get spiders pretty bad here too. We actually just had a problem with brown recluses (not a good thing). Usually we get a lot of wolf spiders and regular ol house spiders. Just last night we opened up our front door to let the cat in and found this across our entire entryway... with him right in the middle... (sorry the flash kind of lit him up). The web spanned across the whole doorway. We would've walked right into it....I would've died. I have never seen a web that huge.

Yes, I agree with La. I personally don't like glue traps. They are great at catching them, but I don't care for how they work. (more torture for the mouse)

The orb weavers spiders can spin some huge webs...and they come back everynight for about a month to spin another one if they find a location where they are not messed with. We had one in our back yard and I swear the web was 8 foot across and about 7ft high when we looked at the places she had anchored.

When you are cleaning, make sure you get rid of egg cases that the spiders are leaving behind.

I was just thinking that kinda. Mice are gross but I was feeling kinda sad reading about everyone killing them lol!

I agree that it's a shame we have to kill them. But, here in AZ they can carry a scary disease (but very rare! don't freak, Megan!), so it's best not to let them live in your house.
