Speaking of skin care and make up...

Speaking of makeup (thinking of Ce's curly eyelashes lol)...can anyone recommend a facial mask ... the kind you peel ... that will get blackheads out of your pores?

I've got a few stubborn ones and my 15yo ds has them all over his nose. We got one (that doesn't peel) that goes with their skin regimen (ha! did I use the right word?) but it STINKS!! It has camphor in it and it was everything I could do to keep from sneezing when I opened the jar. I didn't DARE put it on my own face. I can't handle the smell of eucalyptus ... last time I used something with it in the ingredients...I sneezed for DAYS...it was horrible. So no eucalyptus or camphor.

I have tried Biore nose strips...barely works...seems like it might get a few of the latest ones but won't work on those stubborn ones.

ALSO...does anyone use Avon **foundation** (thanks Meghan for the terminology lesson hee hee :o ) and can recommend a certain one? I don't want heavy...just enough to cover and make my face look less blotchy (darn that age thing going on!). I could use another brand...but no idea on the color and at least Avon would allow me to return if it is not something I would like.

Anyone else have skin care or make up questions to ask? (Not that I know the answer...but I bet someone here does!)

sorry I'm not much help on Avon... I dont use it. For a mask to remove blackheads... I'm going to be interested in what people recommend since I can't think of one. Yeah those biore just really don't work.

What I do is go to a salon who does Machine Facials.... ahh its perfect. They have a tool that creates a suction and removes all the comedones and also can send high frequency waves through the skin killing all bacteria thats hidden under. We charge like 15 dollars for the service and your skin will feel awesome afterwords.

the camphor in your masks since it helps stabilize your sebaceous glands (oil), its an anti inflammatory and an antiseptic. The mask I use, it wont "pull out the blackhead" but it will help prevent them. But since its so tough on you I wouldn't use it....

a tool that creates a suction? ok I have a vision in my head and it ain't pretty! What is a comedones? $15 sounds like a good deal.

Well I have paid for a facial at the day spa where mom and I are going for her 70th birthday on Friday...hoping it will help mine a bit...but ds is not going with us (ladies day!)...

lol its not too bad I promise. Comedones is blackhead...sorry :o got a little technical there

I've never found anything that works to remove blackheads except going to a dermatologist to remove them with their special tool. I bought one from someone that works well, but it's a bit painful.

i haven't tried the one that Susan is talking about though...that sounds interesting.

I don't think that peeling masks will work...I've used many, and they won't pull anything out like that!

Ooh I know! There's some sticker-type things you can get, not a mask, more like those wax strips, that are shaped like a T (kinda) that you put on your nose and it really works, you can even see all the blackheads on the paper afterwords. I have completely forgotten what they are called though - I will do a search and see if I can find them.

Edit: Here they are, turns out they are not shaped like a T though.

I'm sure they have them in the US as well.

it really works nicely and you don't have to go to the dermatologist to get it. The mask I use is pretty close to pharmaceutical, but they've marketed it consumer from professionals only. Then the suctioning is wonderful ladies... it will help so much and its not painful at all.

Does anyone have the Clarisonic and does it work?

I keep looking at it but the price keeps stopping me. If someone here tells me it works then I might try it through QVC (so I could have it on a payment plan and I could return it if it wasn't working for me).

We have used BOXES of that Biore...and yes it will pull out a few teeny ones maybe at a time...but won't get the ones that are deep and that were there before you started using it...we've been using it for about a YEAR and my face doesn't look any better...and my son's actually looks worse now. sigh.
