Anyone seen the new Harry Potter movie yet?

Been keeping a close eye on the weather...looks like it is drive-in movie weather this weekend! Hoping to go see Harry Potter there...ds' 15th (ackk! he's my baby!) birthday is Sunday...he'd like to get a couple of kids to spend the night and go to the movies.

My son went tonight with friends. I am hoping to go in the next week. I only read book one, so I always look forward to the movies.

My youngest did the midnight showing last night. He said it was fabulous...not as much action as he'd like...but fabulous anyway. I think my dh and my other ds will go see it this weekend.

My husband took the kids tonight. I've not seen any of the movies past book 3. That was my favorite book in the entire series, and the movie was such a horrible-HORRIBLE-take on the book that I just can't sit through another disaster. I tried though...I watched 3 movies before giving up.

I'm sure Michael and Landon will enjoy it. Avery (my soon to be 14 y/o) read all the books in third grade (or as soon as they were released for later volumes), and she's critical of the films much like I am. She shredded the Lemony Snicket movie when it came out. I'm not really sure why she bothered to go except that she likes the concession stand treats (hot dogs...gag).

Haha, we're on the same boat, Krystal. I tried so hard to like the movies but from The Sorcerer's Stone movie, I already knew it was going to disappoint me so much since I'm such a huge fan of the books. I stopped watching after the 4th movie. But I think I will try again this time. It's been a long while since I read HBP. It's my favorite book of the entire series though, so not sure how I'm gonna live thru the disappointment if the movie isn't good. LOL

Saw it yesterday. DH and I left the kids and went to see it :D. Obviously the movies will never live up to the books, but I still enjoyed it...

This is why I tell my boys they MUST finish the book before they see the movie. Plus I think this one will be a bit confusing without reading the book...even more so for the next book. Did you hear the last book will be made into 2 movies? We are on page 387 out of 652...so gotta hurry and finish. (I read it when it came out)

I want him to hurry and finish reading the book...they are forecasting a high of 77 Saturday...perfect drive-in movie weather! Our local drive-in has Harry Potter and Ice Age playing together.

Have you all read James Potter and the Hall of Elders Crossing? I haven't finished it...but did start it...just haven't had quiet time to read it...while reading 1/2 blood prince with ds.

Dh and I went and saw it last night. I was disappointed, but I usually am the first time I see them because the anticipation is so great that it's usually a let down for me. LOL I'm a dork like that. :p They did stay pretty true to the story, but they left out some parts that I thought were important and I did a lot of explaining to dh after the movie because he hasn't read the books so he was kind of lost in parts. I was most disappointed with the ending because while it stayed true to the plot (obviously it had to :p) it lacked a lot of the emotion of the book, IMO. Such is life though, they can't cram everything from the 650 page book into a 2.5 hour movie for obvious reasons. lol

I'm interested to see where they'll break the final two movies since they're splitting the final book into two. Hmm. :)

Dh and I saw it yesterday and enjoyed it. You always need to suspend belief when you see any movie made from a book and these are no exception, lol Can you imagine how long this movie would be if they stayed true to the book, lol? There are a couple spots that are not true at all to it and leave me wondering how they'll deal with certain things in Deathly Hallows but overall, don't miss it if you're a Harry Potter fan :)

I have just dropped DD and my SO off to the pre-premiere of the movie, I thought it didn't open here until November for some reason, but then it was in the paper today that they had some tickets left for tonight (regular opening is tomorrow). I think it's a bit fancy with free food, and all the staff dressed up and things, so I'm sure they'll have a great time. I know I'm jealous!

DS and I are waiting for dh to get back from NY so we can go. I haven't read any of the books, so I don't know any differently LOL:p
