music love? All of the MJ coverage has me thinking a lot about my childhood experience with music. When Thriller came out I just wasn't old enough to remember (I was 2).

But it did get me to thinking about the first song I ever loved.

My mom loves to tell the story of me being 4 years old and standing in front of the floor model TV we had that was about as tall as me (small screen mind you, lots of wood paneling :p ).....that I would stand there and be mesmerized when Cyndi Lauper's Time After Time came on. It was 1984 and we lived in Germany at the time and we got two channels...Armed Forces Network and British MTV. Apparently I'd sway back and forth like in a trance until the song went off.

What was the first song/music you remember loving?

Kenny Rogers!! I loved him so much. I had one of those little record players and Id play my books on record (they were kinda like golden books but they came with a record to read along with) and I had a Kenny Rogers record with Islands in the Stream on it (cant remember what was on the other side) and I listened to it all the time

Duran Duran. I was the biggest Durannie, I had walls COVERED. I loved them to pieces, still do! I loved Michael too, when Thriller came out, I was obsessed with it. They were my two music staples back then. I have every Duran Duran album/cd that came out.

The first that I can remember is Wham! I also recall a serious obsession with John Cougar (before he went Mellencamp... ;-) )

well my mom always listened to bands like Poison. So my first favorite music was actually 80's hair band rock! :)

My absolute favorite band is Led Zeppelin! They've been my fave for as long as I can remember, and I still love them!!!! (I'm only 24)

Pretty sure it might be boy george.. haha. I remember having a poster of him above my bed when I was about 6, course that poster also gave me nightmares. Oh and the first song I remember singing all the time was take on me. My sister and i along with our neighbours did a "video" to it. haha

I was obsessed with Michael Jackson. My super cool uncle took me to see him in the Bad Tour when I was in the 2nd grade. Still one of the best I have ever been to.

Madonna. I loved all her music and wanted to be her LOL.

I was 11 when Thriller came out - I remember the huge phenom it was and I remember friends that loved him and thought he was all that - and I remember thinking they were on CRACK cause I could tell he was a freak even back then :p

Well not sure exactally what my "first" music love was but my first CD I ever bought myself was Erasure The innocense (LOVED IT!)

Thriller was the first TAPE, yes tape, I ever got that was all mine. Shortly thereafter I got Madonna, Duran Duran and Depeche Mode. NKOTB came a few years later.

Elton John, mostly because my older sister was a huge fan. But he's still one of my favorites after all this time.

Yikes, I don't think I remember. I know I was in love with New Kids on the Block, but also Michael & Janet Jackson.

Ricky Nelson. No, really. See, my dad owns a jukebox, and he'd set up a series of songs to play every night before dinner. One of those songs was always Travelin' Man by Ricky Nelson. I just LOVED that song. If he didn't play it--I got pissed, LOL! So for Christmas, I got a "Best of Ricky Nelson" tape. I wore that bad boy out! Oh--I was 9, it was 1983.

More current musicians--probably Julian Lennon and Queen, equally. MJ was in there, but not as important as the other two. Julian Lennon's Valotte was the first tape I ever bought with my own money.

Michael Jackson was actually my first. My mom loves to tell stories about how I was 2 and 3 walking around telling everyone that MJ was my boyfriend.

The girl who babysat me when I was little was into the Osmonds - so naturally I was in love with Danny.... sigh

My dad had a ton of albums when I was growing up and I would listen to Elton John and John Denver over and over daily from the time I was 8.
