Michael Jackson has died..

I think more will remember MJ as a music icon...IMO of course...I will

yes he had some troubled years but he was a global music/dance artist and I will remember him for that. Thriller was the first album I ever owned lol

Meg, I think so too. He was and still is the biggest pop icon of this generation. Not just here but across the globe.

Agreed. As I sit here watching MTV Jams and all the old videos and some newer ones and listening to them all talk about Michael. It's very sad. A part of my childhood has died. :(

I am sad. He was my first love, really. I heard Beat It on the way to Target & I could not help but do the little dance in my head (you know the one he does in the diner?). Wow. I remember being a young girl & listening to the tape over and over and over again. I loved me some Michael back in the day.

I have to say his oddness in the past 20 years was summed up well by my fav local talk radio host - He just didn't "fit" into this world. He was a square peg in a world full of round holes.

First and foremost, I see him as a pop icon. He changed the world of music as we know it. Second he was just odd and could not find himself I think. I think he was BRILLIANT and being brilliant just brought him a lot of trouble mentally.

Gosh. This is just so sad. I keep hearing his songs on the radio tonight and it makes me so sad. As much as he was screwed up these last several years, nothing takes away from the fact that he's a music icon. Thriller was the first album I owned. I remember our jr. high show choir did routines for Beat It and Thriller. So many memories. So very sad.

Girls, you said it all already...
I am sorry about this.
It's 23:00 here, I was on that 'ladies night' when DH SMS me: "MJ has died" and I answered: 'Who's MJ'? And then he told me. Shock! I gasped! Every lady at that table feel the same way.
I remember my childhood/early teenage years w/ his songs. I wish I could dance like him. I enjoyed listen his songs A LOT! :(
I'll try to let his musical legacy overtake the crazy things.

my heart breaks for his little kiddos. it's too bad he went crazy and lost the respect of a lot of fans in his later years. how very heartbreaking it all is.

Seriously OMG! I can't even believe it!!!! I had to go to CNN to see if it was really true. I don't care much for his music and him as a person, but it's MICHAEL JACKSON - a legend in his own right.

A very sad day for many, many people today!

the next day and i'm very very sad. yesterday i was in shock and didn't believe it. today I drove to my moms house in tears listening to all the tributes, etc. :(

I'm another one who remembers him from his days with the Jackson 5. I was a freshman in college when Thriller came out. Still one of the most awesome videos ever made. Despite my total lack of respect for him in the past few years, I still feel sadness - especially for his children. Unfortunately, it looks as though it might be another Heath Ledger/Anna Nicole Smith tragedy. I see where the media is reporting that the LA police are looking for his personal doctor.

Very tragic end to a very tragic life.
