HOW DO I USE LAYERED UP IN YOU LAYERS?

I Just bought all the scallops, circles, etc of the "Layered up in YOu" and I cannot figure out how to use them in photoshop. I was hoping that I could just place the cute paper "inside" them to "cut" into that particular shape, but it's just not happening for me. I'm sure there is something simple, but I"m just too new at photoshop and digi scrapbooking! T hanks!!
 
Use them as a clipping mask. Basically, copy the paper you want to use onto the shape layer then hit Ctrl Alt G to clip it to the shape. Once I have it the way I want it, I Merge Visible and copy it to my layout.

Super easy! Place your paper above the layer you want to "cut it" to. Press CTRL+G. This will clip it to the layer below. Then hit CTRL+E and it merges the layers!!
 
Hi :] You have the basic idea.. They are just like any other template (I'm not sure if you've used any layout templates in the past).. Place the paper that you wish to use over the grey shape layer.. there are two ways to "clip" the paper:
a) Place the paper over it and keep the paper layer highlighted on the layers palette then
Hit ctrl+alt+g to create a clipping mask (I don't use masks so someone else may need to clarify that better lol I did a search through past posts)
or
b) ctrl click the shape layer- so you get the dancing ants. click onto the paper layer, hit shift+ ctrl+ I and then delete & it will remove all the excess paper & you will be left with your paper in the shape of the template.

if you are like me and HATE shortcut keys you can put the paper above the shape layer and click layers--create clipping mask and it'll do the same thing as that alt+ctrl+g
 
OR once you have the paper above the shape layer, just right-click on the paper layer and you'll see 'create clipping mask' on the little menu that pops up.

like anything else in PS, there's like a zillion different ways to get to the same result. :p
 
Yep, eleventy billion ways--if you want to be precise! LOL! Another way is to put the cursor on the line between the layers in the palette. When the cursor becomes a hand, hit the ALT key then right click. Voila! Clipping mask! :D
 
Thanks so much you guys! Wow.. this has really opened my eyes to some fun possibilities! I love SSD and all their stuff - seriously awesome designers and such cute stuff! Can't wait to play some more!

LOL - once you learn clipping masks, everything gets a second chance! Frames that you might not like the colors can be used as a template, stars, templates, anything goes!! Have fun!
