With DH home we are flying through out netflix queue like crazy...this week we've watched Paul Blart, Bedtime Stories and Benjamin Button and we have Slumdog Millionaire for tonight...so what good movies have you seen lately?? I just added Taken to our list b/c my sis raved about it...

Gran Torino, Taken, He's Just Not That Into You (its really cute), The International...

Uh... Thats all I can think of for now. sorry. :p

Marley and Me was really cute but kinda sad. Made me cry at the end. I mean I knew the ending was coming but with the preveiws I didnt really expect it to be so emotional.

I really loved Defiance, that was an awesome movie (though I like WWII stuff). September Dawn was good (violent at the end...it's a drama, but guys will like it), so was The Kite Runner. I have Taken sitting here, DH said it was really good but I haven't watched it yet.

DH has watched a lot of movies lately, but I don't watch them that often (I did while I was in the hospital and then recovering).

He said Yes Man was really good, it's waiting for me to watch on our PVR.

I really liked The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. Everybody else has listed the others that I liked too :). Marley and Me was REALLY good, but be prepared to have a huge box of kleenex. I was shocked to see my DH crying (not just teary but actually CRYING)... he said that it reminded him of what happened to his dog when he was 18 :(. Poor DH...

These ones aren't new releases anymore so maybe you've already seen them:
Secret Life of Bees
Dan in Real Life

I too really like Defiance. It was well made, the acting was awesome and it was just all around good. :)

I just watched Revolutionary Road last night and I HATED it!!!!!!! We also have The International and I heard it was good, so I am crossing my fingers!

Taken was an easy watch and really fast paced and action packed. Yes Man was funny....hmm.....I don't know, lol! We watch a lot and I forget! :D :D :D

i haven't even heard of most of these. so obviously, i'm no help. :p we don't watch too many movies anymore, which is odd since we used to watch a few every week.

I second The Boy In The Striped Pajamas. Another WWII story, lol...but not violent...it's based on a children's book.

The Changeling was really good too, if you haven't seen it.

I was wondering about this movie...what do you think about a teen that is kinda immature and emotional...might be a bit much for him?? He's PDD-NOS (teacher and I think he is aspergers according to a 'scale' he was rated on but haven't shown this to doctor yet)...

He's interested in some military type shows but not violent ones...like on the history channel...he loves M*A*S*H and Hogan's Heroes...but obviously those aren't "real" to him.

A few years ago they had an exhibit on the Titanic...they gave each of us walking into the exhibit a card with a name on it...at the end you looked at the passenger list to see if you died or lived...my son's card was a person that died. He cried...he was pretty upset about it for quite awhile. Obviously I am NOT going to let him see that movie.

Ok I think I am answering my own question... ???

I can't be really sure. The ending is the only really sad part (don't want to give it away)...they don't show anything that happened through the whole movie. Well, their servant gets beaten, but I can't remember if they show that or if you just hear it. Most of the stuff is insinuated, because you *know* what's going on on the other side of the fence.

Ohhh also "Flash Of Genius" I absolutely LOVED!!! Story of the underdog who doesnt give up and wins in the end. (and wins BIG!!!)

This guy invents something for cars and has his invention stolen by Ford and eventually chevy and chrysler. He goes after them though. It has the mom from Gilmore Girls in it. Truly an awesome movie. Well in my opionion it was!!

Great! This has added lots to our list...I only watch movies with DH lol..while he was deployed i mostly rented series from netflix...i caught up on the tudors, all the CSIs etc..but now that he's home he likes to sit and watch a movie just about every night after the kids are in bed. :) I can't watch Marley and Me...I know what happens and I just can't handle movies like that.

I LOVE the Tudors...we just finished season 2 the other night...I was sad even though I know the history! LOL

I really loved Marley and Me...hated the Reader and Benjamin Button...hmmm let's see.. I loved Yes Man, Bride Wars was cute, Kit Kittredge and Doubt were "Meh"...Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants II and Mamma Mia were great..

I really want to see Gran Torino with Clint Eastwood. It came out I think this Tuesday.

Gran Torino was great! I caught it a couple of days ago *perk with my hubby's job ;) )

I seen He's just not that into you! loved it

Also Difiance with Daniel Grieg was awesome.. intense tho.

My husband would kick my ass if I even considered watching Marley & Me.

I cried ALL THE WAY through UP! And snorty cried at the end of Annabelle's Wish. CARTOONS, PEOPLE. :D

I'm a bit of a basketcase.

I thought so too, but saw it with friends- the "tip" is that you MUST sing along WITH the movie, then you are having enough fun that you don't notice the cheesiness. :)

LOL it's based on a cheesy musical..the cheese factor is supposed to be there...lol

Well, having never seen the musical I wasn't quite prepared for the cheesiness. But really that was not as odd? as my friend's dh singing along with us... that was hilarious!

BTW I wasted way too much time on Netflix and adding new movies and watching on demand stuff tonight because of this thread.
