I hate when this happens!!!

I was trying to finish up a layout for the paper 2 digi challenge before the deadline this evening and started around 8:00. It came together pretty quickly which I was happy about because that is one of the challenges I usually struggle with. Well just as I was finishing up on the shadowing on the layout which is my very last step I get this fatal error and the blue screen of death and it says my computer is restarting. OK scary enough to see FATAL ERROR but then to have it happen right in the middle of a layout and on top of it I realllly loved the layout I was so mad at myself because I always say everytime something like this happens that from now on Im gonna save every 5 or so minutes and I never do. Well I got the computer restarted and started completely over on the layout. It wasnt exactly the same as the first one but it was pretty close I suppose. Still turned out ok I think. Now I am going to try to remember to save my layout every few minutes for sure. Between power outages and my cats stepping on the power strip under my desk and the computer crashing/freezing I am not sure how I ever finish a layout LOL
 
Oh! I hate that! I always say I'm going to save every few minutes but always forget to. I had found an autosave program to do it for me, but forgot to download it once I got my new computer. I really should go find it again...
 
LOL Yea I had PSP set up to save automatically but I found it slowed the program down so much. I might start doing it that way again but set the interval in between saves a little further apart.
 
oh! I hate that! It used to happen all the time on my laptop. :cursing:

I'm glad you finished in time! I saw it in the gallery, it looks great! :thumbup:

For photoshop? If so, please share if you find it!!! I never remember to save while I'm working.
 
That happened when I was doing the Paper 2 Digi too! Well, I didn't get the blue screen right away, but there was some error and I wasn't able to save my layout no matter what extension it was, THEN came the blue screen. Ugh!
 
I thought I was the only one with naughty kitties stepping on the power switch on the surge protector!! HOW do they get their little paws EXACTLY in the right spot to switch off the 'puter?!?!? Yet they cannot keep the litter in their box.

I'll have to look @ that program Bree. PS (waaaaaayyyyyy back in the day of 2.5 & 3.0) had autosave. *sigh* it saved my booty many times in college.
 
Ugh that sucks!! Thankfully that has never happened to me......I don't think even once. Now I have had ACDSee wig out on me and close unexpectedly...but that is no where as bad as losing an entire LO!!! Glad you were able to kind of recaputre the page you wanted!!!
 
eek....

I'm jealous of people that can scrap a LO in an hour or even a few hours..1 LO takes me DAYS normally lol
 
Oh that really stinks, I have accidentally closed a LO without saving thinking I was closing an element and was kicking myself for not saving it.

I cant' even tell you t he number of times I have done that. I get so mad at myself every single time. :cursing:
 
Fortunately this hasn't happened to me with a layout yet- but I was extracting a very intricate piece of lace for a customer of mine, and got the blue-screen-of-death! I was about an hour into it at that point and had to start over! That sucked!!!!
