So I tried something new today (blending a photo), and while I like the look, I'm not sure it fits this layout. Does it take away from the photos on the side? I find that its the first thing I see and I don't even look at the other 3 photos. Is it just me? Is the other one more visually pleasing?

First one w/ no blending:

Or the one with the blended photo:

although..maybe duplicate the blended layer and screen it and lower the opacity way down..just so it's a little brighter and easier to see?

I like more without the blending... and "I" and I remark "I" since I'm not a fan of white space, would move the pics a little (very little) to the right and/or add some journaling

I thought about that too, but I can't with the way the photos & the green frame is cropped. Trust me, it looks baaaaaaaad. And I didn't feel like writing journalling, lol. But I do like white space so the bareness doesn't really bother me :).

I like it without the blended photo. My eye goes straight to it and then I have to kinda "force" myself to look at the rest. Generally I'm not a blended photo type of person, though...

Me neither. I think its my paper roots coming out! I thought I would try it for fun tonight. But all said and done, its more likely that the plain one will be printed and placed in my album!

hmmm. i voted 'something else'. i loooove the blended photo look, but i think it's too straight forward. hmmm...yes...that made no sense. what i mean is, i think it needs to be smaller and tucked in a bit more (behind the strip of photos), not just centered in the middle of that blank space. i think that's why you are focusing on it first thing. cause it's either look at the strip on the side or look at the blended photo. did any of this make ANY sense?? :o

i love that lo, jae!!

Okay Meg, I just tried that... is this better? I've never ever done this before, so I don't really know what I'm doing, lol!

I like the blending very much! If you're afraid of it taking away attention from the photo you can make it smaller or the blending more subtle. I just think it adds a lot more depth to the layout than without.

...and I just read Meg's advice and realized I just gave you the opposite advice, lol. Sorry! didn't mean to confuse you!

I voted without. My eyes can't 'breathe' (yeah, I know) with the blended photo + the other embellishments at the size they are now.

I'd either shrink the embellishments and other photos and then keep the blended OR go w/o the blended and leave it white space.

I voted "something else too". It's not that I dislike the blended photo one...blending is just not me!!! I think the blended one is just a bit much but the non blended one is just lacking something!! I know you said you don't feel like journaling but maybe you could find a oem or song about family/love/life and maybe copy a few lines onto the non blended one. They are gorgeous pages though...I love the design and the colors you chose!!!

I really like the blending- I did see that first and not really look at the other photos- but since it's a great group shot of all of you, I think that's an ok thing :)

I vote without and journal the heck outta that big ol space! It would look soo awesome with a mass of text in it!

I think both versions rock! I do like blending but would agree that you should lower the opacity of the blended photo a bit more, so it is just barely visible. Also, the crease of the paper goes straight across to her cute little face... I think that creates a visual line that is distracting, maybe you could raise or lower the blended photo a bit so it isn't slicing her face?

Thanks for the suggestions ladies! I am really at a loss now, haha!

I do agree with the majority vote to go with the unblended version. I was really just playing with it because I've never done it before. It's not really "me" though, kwim?

I agree that the clean version would look awesome with a big chunk of journalling. I might do that if I can think of something to journal about, lol!

I like the first version without the blended photo. Maybe if the blended photo was a different picture it would look better? To me it's a bit overload of the same photo KWIM? But I do like the first one just fine as it is.
