So the topic about not affording kits as much and exchange rates got me thinking. I'm wondering how much certain things are where you live, whether it be America or overseas or wherever you are.

A loaf of whitewheat bread is 2.29 here (eastern NC). I guess bread is an international type thing, something we all might be able to compare? Maybe milk would be the better question? IDK. Just curious.
 
I think I pay about $1.88 for a loaf of whole wheat bread. We buy it wholesale, as we go through about 5 loaves a week.
Milk, we pay about $4.50 for a 4 Litre jug (I think that is 1 Gallon US?)
 
We buy our bread in bulk too, it's about $2 per loaf. Milk is just over $3 a gallon (which is just about 7 ounces less than 4L ;))
 
We just went to the store this evening. We bought a loaf of bread for 2.18 and a gallon of milk for 2.50.
 
Can everyone edit their posts to say where they live? Will be interesting to know what the prices are in each country and/or State. I haven't bought bread in a couple of weeks so I will have to go to the grocery store and look (I typically buy tortillas for 90% of our meals).
 
I live in Oregon, I can get:
a gallon of milk for between $2.00-and 2.50
a loaf of white bread for about $1.89
and gas is around $1.99 a gallon
 
I started buying the store brand bread and it's 88 cents for a smaller loaf, and about $1.50 for a sandwich loaf. I usually get 2 gallons of milk at a time at Sam's Club for about $3.69, but today at the grocery store I paid $1.99.
 
Here in New Zealand our cheapest white bread is about NZ$1.50 (US$3), but the expensive ones are up around NZ$4.50 a loaf. (The exchange rate at the moment is somewhere between 51 and 54 US cents to our dollar)

I pay NZ$2.50 for 2 litres of milk. The dearer brands costs about NZ$4.00 per 2 litres, yet it tastes exactly the same.
 
I live in a really small town, and prices are sky high here... I get my groceries when I go to the nearest city, Saskatoon.

In town:
A loaf of whole wheat bread is $4 - $6 depending on brand
Gallon of homo milk (we buy for our 14 month old) is $6.50 (!!!!)

In Saskatoon:
3 loaves of Dempster's Whole Wheat bread for $6.00 (so $2.00/loaf)
A gallon of milk is $4.30 - $4.50
 
I'm in Colorado with Liz. Milk prices vary week to week around here. Two weeks ago I found milk (Colorado Proud brand, gotta love our cows lol) for $1.79/gallon.
This past week I paid $2.29/gallon. Yesterday I saw it for $2.89.
 
If I go to the bread store I can get I think 3 loaves for like 4 dollars. Maybe a little more or less. Sometimes the bread is close to the expiration date but most times it is just like buying it at the grocery store.

Milk is between 2.79 and 4.00 a gallon. Oh and the namebrand milk is around 5.00 a gallon. When I say name brand I mean T.G. Lee. The bad part about that?? It is a local milk. The place is probably no more then 30 miles from my house and I pay less for a brand that is farther away

Copenhagen, Denmark -- Loaf of bread is anywhere from 3.50 up to 5.00 American dollars a loaf and milk is about 4.50 American dollars a litre. Everything is much more expensive here, but our salaries are also much higher, so it all is relative I guess! lol
 
I'm in IL and milk is just under $2 a gallon here. Gas just went up to $2.03 and I'm not sure about bread...I haven't bought any in so long!
 
I'm in The Netherlands and milk is $6.63 USD per gallon (bought in 2 liter jugs) and we buy 3 loaves of whole wheat bread for $2.56 USD
 
I'm in TN and the cheapest store brand bread is $1.36 and I've been paying $3.09 for milk (although that's pretty recent - I'd been paying $4.00).
 
ETA: I'm in western Pennsylvania (about 1.5 to 2 hours east of Pittsburgh)

I buy a Schweble's Sweet Harvest whole wheat bread for toast and "stuff" and I pay $1.92 for that. Then for sandwiches my Wal Mart has a sandwich wheat of their brand (it's real thin and hardly any crust....PERFECT) and I pay about $1.25 for a loaf of that!!

We only buy one certain brand of milk, it's from a local dairy and although it's not organic it is hormone free and we pay about $3.60 for whole milk and about $3.03 for skim milk.
 
I've actually noticed prices have gone down a bit here in Mississippi since last summer when gas was so high. I buy store brand bread about 1.20 and store brand milk about 3 dollars. Gas is 1.79. Our wal-mart here has really cut prices on certain things.

gas: $1.56/gal (we have a program with our market-- I think the real price is 1.98)
bread: i have no freakin idea I don't buy bread hahaha
milk: I don't buy cow milk.. but it's $7+ for a gallons worth of soy milk.
 
I'm in Eastern PA and milk here is about $2.73 for skim and just under 3 dollars for whole milk.
Bread is about $1.95-$3.00 depending on brand and wheat/white.

I'm glad prices went down because I really hated paying $4.00 for milk.

Milk...approx $2.00 - $2.50 gallon
gas..I saw it for $2.07 yesterday

Last week's sale prices @ Dillon's (Kroger):
store brand bread $0.99 - usually pay around $1.69, the name brands and fancier breads are anywhere from $2-4/loaf
store brand milk 2% half gallon $1.25 - usually pay $2.50-$3 for a gallon, name brands are slightly higher

Gas is around $1.69/gal for unleaded, but I always have 10c fuel program discounts to use from Dillon's since I do most of my grocery shopping there.
 
Wow, I live in ND and I pay like $3.50-$4 for a gallon of milk. I buy bread at the bread outlet stores for like $1.88. Gas right now is at $1.84.
 
I'm a little north of Atlanta...

I bought Milk yesterday for $2.39/gallon @ Kroger
Gas was 1.77/gallon
Bread (I buy store brand) from 1.09-1.29 depending on the type. Sometimes I splurge and get really good sandwich bread for Dh and I and it can be like 3.00-4.00/loaf

We pay $7.43 for a gallon jug here in Nova Scotia!

Bread depends on the type, but the kind we buy is $2.69 if not on sale.

Gas right now is around 89 cents per litre which is about $3.37/gallon.
 
I'm in Northern California.

Milk is around $3.75 a gallon.
Bread is about $4.50 a loaf (I only buy Oroweat Double Fiber or their Whole Wheat).
Gas is about $1.99 a gallon.
Eggs are about $3.98 for an 18-pack of large eggs.

Way too expensive if you ask me!
 
I'm in Singapore and I can buy a loaf of bread for $2. That's less than 1USD when converted. The exchange rate STINKS.
 
Milk: 3.50
Bread: 4.29 (notice that bread is NO longer 1 pound loaves)
Gas: 2.13

(I live in Los Angeles County, just north of the City of Los Angeles)
 
Well, I make my own bread from bulk ingredients so it's at or less than about $1/loaf... I think I saw the sandwich loaves at like 1.50 at Walfart.

Milk was on sale for $1.28/gallon (down from about $2.30ish) so I bought several and froze some.

Aaaand I just got gas this morning at $1.91

(oh and I'm in MN)

With the exchange rate, my milk is $6 a gallon and gas is $2.72... Why is it more in Canada anyway? *hmmph*

Haahaha! I call it wal-fart too. Can you freeze milk for real, or did you mean bread? I had never heard of that. What do you do, just stick it in a separate freezer or something? Enlighten me from your secret location under Richard Simmons bed :p
