mmmm-kay. I stopped on this last night before I fell asleep and I just want to go on the record and say that not all southerners are like these moms on this show. I promise.

while I haven't seen that show, I've seen lots of them like. I know all southern mamas aren't like that, don't worry. :)

I have lived all over the south thanks to the Army and when I lived in TN we put Nathan in a baby contest like that...just for fun...he won but I didn't go any further with it, the prize at that low level was just a trophy and paid admission to the next level.

Some people really can get out of hand, huh? The moms they put on there are usually really crazy.

Don't worry Nikki, its not just Southerners! LOL! I have boys so at least I don't have to "deal" with that! But yeah, soccer moms/dads/grandparents can be just as over the top too!

...But yeah, soccer moms/dads/grandparents can be just as over the top too!

You are not kidding!!! I think there are crazies everywhere... maybe in the South, pageants are where it comes out, but here in CA, some of the sports parents can be down right scary! :p:p:p

OMG.. the people on that show are looney tunes, they are SOOOO obsessed with winning, the one week i watched, this ADORABLE almost 2 year old little girl was in the contest/pageant whatev, and didnt win first place, and her dad was SOOOOOOO dissappointed, he was going to have to have a LONG sit down talk with her on how she needed to be better...
UM WHAT????
If i tried to have a sit down on bettering my almost 2 year old, I'd be asked for icecream, to please turn on wow wow wubbzy, or be outright ignored..

I actually just watched an episode of this for the first time the other night. So just from that one episode the parents weren't TOO bad but I can TOTALLY see how they could be and I'm sure they are. I have mixed feelings about the whole beauy pagent things, I would only want my daughter to do it as long as it's what SHE wants, and for fun. I couldn't imagine being dissapointed with either of my girls for loosing. Talking about doing some major psych damage and creating self issues. :( It's heart breaking....but that could happen with any other thing (sports), I guess too. Brooke played soccer this past summer and that was pretty crazy. LOL

Oohh yea, I totally dont think its JUST pageants, I have a friend, who's children do gymnastics, and they are all a TAD over into it, like, That back flip could have been a little more arched coming into the curve, lets practice 6 more times... LOL..
Uhmm, your 6 year old does back flips, thats FAB as is....
I think it just happens... :glare:

See, I grew up around this...pagents are a big deal around here and for the life of me I don't get it. I just can't see me putting makeup on Ella at age 5 or making her "false teeth" when she loses her two front ones! I nearly fell over when I saw that ..and last night one of the mom's was putting lipstick (on her 11 year old btw) and said, "oh I wish we could get you new lips for Christmas)...she actually said that..to her 11 year old daughter! CRAZY

I am so glad you brought this up Nikki...I have wanted to for a while now but was scared.... I think it is just silly myself...I have watched this quite a few times (if NOTHING else is on) and can't believe how far some of these Mom's go with these poor little girls. The one Mom said when her daughter is ready to stop she will and I think that is great but when you see a 7 year old stomping her feet and crying cause she lost that is just wrong on every level!!!
