What's THAT supposed to mean??

So I feel like I'm in a paper verses digi fight. I used to be paper, but I sucked at it... well I thought I did. I compared my stuff to what I'd see in the magazines and was not happy. I wanted a million layers without the bulky pages!!!

I was introduced and over time got addicted to digital scrapbooking, and have made the switch from paper to 100% digital, with a few hybrid things thrown in for good measure. But I still post at a couple paper sites that I used to frequent...

And I get like 0 or 1 comments. Which is fine. But the thing that makes me scratch my head is when I get DO get a comment, its ALWAYS something along the lines of "Nice layout... even if its digi". Ummm, should I take that as a compliment or a snarky comment??

I don't know... I just get so annoyed over the whole "us" verses "them" mentality that some people have, you know? Can't we all just get along???

It's almost as if they're looking for any opportunity to get their 2 cents in!

Don't let it frustrate you - be proud to be DIGI - it's their loss! hehe ;)

The paste eaters often think that digi is glorified photo editing. I have heard a number of times and used to be guilty of saying it that there is no creativity or work that goes into digi.

I always laugh at how closed-minded people can be. A person might not be interested in digital scrapping but the pages themselves can be inspiring to paper scrappers and vice-versa!

If I was in a grumpy mood, I'd reciprocate on a layout of the commenters with something like "nice layout...if it was digi, the frame would be even" or something like that. Hahahaha.

I hate those comments, I only scrapped 4 or so paper pages. If it weren't for digi, I wouldn't scrap at all. And I have seen some digi pages that look SO good, you felt like you could reach out and touch the elements.

Whatever, I'd just stop posting there, if it were me. They just don't understand I guess, but I'd love to see them try it LOL

I know! I try to make my pages look like paper, I just like the look. There have been lots of times where people didn't read my description, so didn't even realize it was digital. Haha, someone once asked me how much my pages weighed when I was done cause I had so much stuff on it, bwhahahahaha!

Oh, and I think it hilarious when the pages are so realistic, and like you said, you think you could reach out and touch the layers, and then people don't believe me that its a digital page. A CK Hall-of-Famer was 100% digital, and the girls who usually are snarky about my pages were gawking at the pages, and I was like "yeah, isn't she awesome, she's a digi scrapper!!" they were like, "No she's not! Digi can't be this good!". Sigh.

They're just JEAL-OUS! That's dumb. I'd really like them to sit and try to make a digi page... then I'm sure they'd have a whole lot more appreciation. ;)

I know a few paper scrappers who also sell for CM and they always try and push their products on me...I now avoid them as much as possible. They have no idea what their missing with digi...the possibilities are really endless. I have yet to be utterly amazed by a traditional page the way I am with some digital pages I have seen.

I paper scrapped for 9 years, as soon as I started digi, I was hooked. Haven't done a paper page since (and that was almost 3 years ago). Digi looks so much better IMO and costs so much less, even with doing a lot of digi shopping.

I paper scrapped almost an entire album for Libby after she was born. I used to be proud of those pages before I found digi. Now I look at them and it's almost embarrassing!! LOL!!

I have to stand up for the paste eater though because they don't ALL feel that way. I used to do paper and sucked at it, but along the way I met a great group of paper scrappers that include several high profile designers, an author of famous scrapping books and others who have been published time and again, (I've even started to convert one of them - LOL).
They LOVE my digi pages. They encourage me and make me feel good about digi. They even send me their photos to scrap, so they can get ideas and use my pages as lifts and sketches.
So yea, some people are a little cranky when it comes to digi but there are lots of paper scrappers out there who enjoy looking and hearing about digi pages.:)

Just remind them that paper-scrap supplies were designed just like digital supplies! They're just printed (or molded & cut by a machine!)

We aren't all like that you know and I have come across plenty of digi scrappers who have nothing nice to say about paper stuff so it's swings and round-a-bouts.

Me? I like both ;)

I actually wish I could create on paper what I do in digi, but I just can't. There is just something I love about having paper pages. Of course, I might feel differently if I actually just printed some of my digi pages LOL.

Oh that sounds really horrible, I always believe in the saying "If you have nothing nice to say don't say anything!" why comment if it's just going to be a disguised dig.

I totally envy paper scrappers because I have the shakiest hands and could never dream of doing something as precise as that but I envy the digiscrappers just as much it takes a whole lot of work to get your head around this technology and be creative at the same time! xxx

HA! You know, I was a paper scrapper for like 8-9 years before I went digi. And I *was* one of those in the mags, and I designed layouts for manufacturers. I have to admit that I was pretty vocal for my dislike for digi. Not that I said it in a mean way or anything. I just swore I would never go digi because at the time, I was under the impression that it was all premade layouts that you just plopped your photos into. I had no idea that it was like "real" scrapbooking (for lack of a better word). It wasn't until I was teaching a paper scrapping class and Kathy Moore was there with an album of her printed pages that I even thought about digi. As I flipped through her album, I was AMAZED at how beautiful the pages were. I kept rubbing my hand over the pages to "feel" them.

So yeah, I'm eating my words. LOL! I tried digi a couple of months after meeting Kathy, and I haven't done a paper layout since then.

So I really think that people who say mean things about digi are just misinformed. :)

Ummm, I totally get you, I still paper scrap and there is one person who always makes a comment about how glad they are to see me paper scrapping again when I post a paper page. I have not been posting there anymore. :)

Oh, don't get me wrong, I know they aren't ALL that way! A lot of girls I've met through the paper site are amazed and love my stuff... they just never comment. It seems the only comments I get are the ones trying to make a dig, you know?

paper and digi both have their own place. i couldn't do what some do with paper and i know some couldn't do what i do with digi. it's silly to try and say one is better than the other. why are people ugly about it?

I agree with Libby, a lot of paper scrappers may have the impression that we use nothing but "quick pages". I know I used to paper scrap and just hated when I put dimensional stuff on my layouts that would dent other layouts and pretty much ruin them. but I love digi, you can print it and if it gets messed up, you can print it again and again and again. I wouldn't post at paper sights if they're not nice. There's so many cool digi places to post that I would stick with those!

Well I think lots of paper scrappers are very talented... I just don't have the patience to do that on paper (I'm scissor challenged) and not in a million years I can put a decent layout on paper (and trust me I've tried). And I totaly hate the whole us vs them (both ways).
I think we are all talented and can put out pretty amazing layouts no matter ho you do it!

Almost all my paper scrap friends thought that all my LO's were "quick pages" I had to explain to everyone that it's like paper scrapping...just on a computer. You still have paper and ribbons and stickers...they just don't get it. It took my mom almost 6 months to actually *like* my digi pages!

They are just jealous that they can't do it and make their pages just as beautiful! Digi scrappin has so many more options!!!
