So several people convinced me that the XSI would be a smarter purchase...so I took the plunge! I got:

# Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi Body in Black Color
# EF-S 18-55mm Zoom Lens
# Canon Normal EF 50mm f/1.8 II Autofocus Lens
# Wrist strap
# Video cable
# USB cable
# NB-2LH lithium-ion battery pack with cover
# Battery charger
# ArcSoft and Canon Digital Camera Solution Disk software CDs
# Operating manual and registration card
# Canon Warranty
# High Speed 8GB SD Card w/ Carrying Case Included
# Camera Case to Protect your camera
# New CompactFlash USB Card Reader
# Flexible Mini Tripod
# Premium Lens Cleaning Kit

I got all of this for $655, so I think I did really well! I paid $450 for my P&S two years ago. I decided to just take the plunge and get the best I could afford so as not to regret it later. The only thing I can immediately see that I would like to purchase separately is a remote, but that can wait.

Now, convince me I did okay? I'm excited but nervous

YAY!

Quick question- why did you get a CF card reader? I thought new Canons took SD cards. That is the one thing I do not like about mine- CF card.

That confused me too, but a lot of the CF card readers also read a ton of various sized SD cards. So it probably reads the one she got as well.

it was a package deal, I just got what it came with LOL! The package was for $564 for all of the items except the 50 mm, which I ordered from B&H for $90.

LOL! An extra card reader will always come in handy! That is a really good price Lena! How long will you be stalking UPS?

YAY, congrats girl! You are going to LOVE it... I have it, so trust me! And yes, you got a great deal on it.

That's a fabulous deal, Lena!!! The High Speed SD card that comes with that camera may not be compatible with most card readers. It's not with mine. I have to plug the camera into the computer directly to get to my pictures. Of course, I actually find that easier. There's no chance I'm going to lose the card that way, lol!

They are quick with great customer service. That is where we ordered out XTI from 2 years ago. You will love it.

I told you I just bought my XSi last week, got here on Monday and I paid $600 with shipping for just the body. So, I'd say you did good.

You're not alone Lena, I got myself one for Christmas. Almost the same package with memory card, cleaning kit, etc, but also got filters and a wide angle lens. I'm so happy I did. You'll love it!
