Help me name my baby!

What should we name her?

So, I'm due in 5 1/2 weeks and we don't have a name yet. Nothing is really standing out to me. Right now, at the top of our list is Sadie or Sophia.

My hubby had a dream early on that we had a baby girl named Sophia--that's where that comes from.

Sadie somehow comes from Sarah and means princess (just like Sarah), so it's an extra connection to me.

My other girls are Kathryn and Hannah if that makes a difference. :)
 
I voted Sophia because I think it goes really well with Kathryn, which is also a formal name, and also with Hannah. If you had less formal names and/or nicknames you called your DDs (almost to the exclusion of their actual names) that were more cutesy, I'd go with Sadie.
 
I like Sophia becuase you can shorten it to Sophie if you want. Sadie is sweet too, but I think Sophia goes better with your other DDs names.
 
My test is always to say the names of my kids together, lol...like if I was to have another baby, I would be saying "and these are my kids...Mason, Natalie and..." If the name I'm considering doesn't "go" with the other ones (like roll off the tongue, or style or whatever) then it goes out the window...

I though the EXACT same thing!!!! :thumbup: So I voted Sophia!!!
 
I voted for Sophia.

I have to say that after teaching for so many years, I was ultra-picky about naming my DD...there are alot of names that I refused to name her because of the kids that I was reminded of! And in the end, DH picked her first name, and I picked the middle.
 
I said Sophia. Sadie is becoming VERY trendy these days, though I don't know if that would make a difference to you.

That said, you could always stretch things and use Sadie as a nickname for Sophia. I know a woman who named her daughter Susannah and calls her Sadie.
 
I have a Sadie Jayne so I am partial.

Both Sadie and Sophia are beautiful, do you have a middle name picked that would flow better with one or the other?

Jane would totally be her middle name (as of now). That's my middle name and I thought it'd be fun to use. I think Sadie Jane flows perfectly, Sophia Jane not as much, but I do think Sophia sounds better with my other girls' names. So yeah, I don't know what to do! :)
 
Personally, I love the name Sophia (as a die-hard Golden Girls fan! I'm not being sarcastic!) but I voted for Sadie, because I think Sophia's going to become one of those too-popular names.
When I was in grade school, there were 4 Jessica's in one class, and in high school, there were about 15 in my graduating class!- which always happens every year- an over-saturation of names. With rare & unusual names becoming more popular and the new norm, I think Sophia (like Aiden for a boy!) will become over-used and your child will be the 3rd of 15 girls in her graduating class with that name. Kwim? Just my opinion, though. :p

Also, I could tell by your post that you really want the name Sadie. I think you're leaning toward that more, am I right? :) It seems like the only reason you're considering Sophia, is because your hubby had the dream. Otherwise, you wouldn't have thought about it, right? ;)

Nicknames are funny! My son's name is Gunner, and I've gone from calling him Gunnie, to Gunners, to Nunners! So, it can vary a lot! I don't know why I call him Nunners- but he likes it and sometimes calls himself that! :)
 
Okay, so I had to look up what Kathryn & Hannah mean since I already knew Sophia meant 'wisdom.'

Now I REALLY think you have to name your DD Sophia; how cool to have daughters named Pure, Grace, & Wisdom?!

You're right in that 'Sophia' and 'Jane' don't flow as well. No suggestion there.

#1 sophie is my sister's dog's name, lol
and
#2, my friend just had a baby girl that she named Sophie and her 2 year old daughter calls her "a-fofie" ROFL
 
I LOVE Sadie...it's the name I wanted for Ella except our last name is Hawkins..so I couldn't do that to her lol..ya know..."Sadie Hawkins" lol!
 
I'm torn. I like both of them for different reasons. Sadie goes really well with your other girls. On the other hand, I take the position that they're all individuals so their names don't necessarily have to "go together." For that reason, I really love Sophia.

Sorry, I'm no help. But really, I like both of them.
 
I picked Sadie. Sophia is SO popular now. And I think Sadie fits really well with your other daughter's names. And I think it is really cute and pretty at the same time.
 
My little one is named Sophie Rose, which I love. I will warn you, however, it is a very common name now. There are at least 4 other Sophie's or Sophia's in her Gymboree class!

I know what you mean! My Devin's gone from Doodlebug to Deedlebug to Deedle to Debug to just "D." He uses Debug as his personal choice nickname.
 
Both are pretty names, but I picked Sophia only because I have 2 friends that have dogs named Sadie, so that's naturally what I think of when I hear that name :blink:


and could that be any more of a run-on sentence??????? LOL!
