FI works from home and does most of the laundry. He is also in charge of laundry because he is much much more particular abt clothing than I am.

He uses a 'draping' method where EVERYTHING except for socks, underwear, and teeshirts get hung over a chair/couch/inanimate object when the dryer shuts off. Eventually, these move to the closet or bureau, but it is often 2-3 days later. He insists that the laundry cannot be carried in the basket from the dryer (which is off the dining room in the apt) to the bedroom because by the time you get there, they will already be past his 'level of wrinkledness.'

Uh, yeah.

Here's where my poll comes in.

Of COURSE, he has a certain way of folding his underwear. Honestly, ladies, I don't fold my underwear. It just all goes in the drawer, but his has to be folded in quarters. Okay, that makes sense when it comes to boxers. HOWEVER, then he says that ideally, they're folded in quarters and also stacked atop one another with the waistbands at opposite ends so that they stack BETTER i.e. if in a drawer, Boxers #1 has waistband closest to back of drawer, Boxers #2 (on top of Boxers #1) has waistband closest to front of drawer, repeat, etc.

I told him he was crazy.

And that I was going to post this on 'my message board to my ladies' and see what they said and if they would back me up on how crazy/OCD this is.

So... whatcha fink?! Am I right and sane or wrong and slobby? YOU BE THE JUDGE.

well.....i'm ocd too but all my waistbands eventually face the same way after they make it from the laundry basket a week or two later :P

he's pretty certifiable.

I think his draping thing is way weird...bu we do DH's underpants the same way because the drawers are really deep, and if we don't- they tend to fall, so we do the back and forth waist band thing, too ;)

Crazy and pointless. Waistband forward vs backward is NOT going to make a difference. To avoid wrinkledness, I fold as I pull from the dryer and place into laundry basket. Will he try that?

The laundry habit that Jordan does that drives me insane, is that while folding clothes he takes his shirts and hangs them on a hanger and then hangs that on the door jamb to our bedroom.

Not so bad, except when he's done putting everything away he leaves them there! Or, moves them to the door jamb on the other bedroom. FOR A WEEK!

Unnecessary and pointless. Put them in the dang closet!

Ummm...that's just weird. I leave my dry clothes in a heap on top of the dryer and/or in baskets in the laundry room (I just remember which baskets are clean and which are dirty) and we dress in there. LOL!

I have no educated response because... well in my house there are so many boy undies/boxers to fold that if i start thinking about it, I MAY go crazy....

If i had it my way I'd totally do his thing, makes perfect sense to me.... but... well i live with 5 males and lots and lots of dirty undies....

BUT what i really wanted to say is that I love your poll responses and would like to vote for all of them, can you please make that possible for me :)

Nope, no military here and no one in his family has been, either, unless it was a great-grandfather or something back in the day.

Thanks, Shawna! I have no idea how to edit a poll, so you'll have to do that for me so that you can vote for all the choices. *lol*

Alas...I too do the back 'n forth thing with the tighty whiteys. Although, my excuse is dh was in the Army and that's just how he does it.

Although, I must admit the draping thing is certifiable. LOL!

I'm the "no, it makes perfect sense" one because that's how I fold mine and DH underwear. If you have all the elastics stacked on top, then you have an uneven pile.

If I drape all the laundry over everything where will I put the jackets and backpacks?

I do the undies flip flop also. I don't like leaning towers.

Um yea.. crazy and pointless.... and a total waste of time. Throw them in a pile in the drawer. Who cares if your undies are wrinkled????????????

OK, so I voted for #3 cuz that's the way I do DH's boxer briefs. However, the whole draping thing would drive me insane! If I were you, I'd threaten him... tell him if he insists on draping, they clothes can be there for no longer than 12 hours or they go in the basket! lol

I don't think he's folding them that way to avoid wrinkles is he?

Now the draping thing is just weird, but the underwear folding process makes perfect sense to me.

Ditto...word for word. I also alternate his under shirts shirts (one facing up then one facing down) for the same reason.....they are "puffy" at the neck and if I don't alternate them the stack falls over!

I think it is crazy about the draping. Why not drape them overy the laundry basket sides or in the bottom of it. Personally, I'd eventually be pushing all those draped clothes into a bunch on one end of the sofa or whatever if they laid there too long. Then they'd end up just as wrinkled anyway. :)

Oh, and if he truely wants the underwear to lay right he needs to alternate the back & front facing waistbands with left & right facing waistbands. Otherwise they get all 'dippy' in the center. I know because I'm weird like that about the boys' shirts :)

I do it like that too...well not the draping part but everything that goes in the drawer gets alternated so that they sit more evenly otherwise you end up with a big lump on one end

I voted crazy and pointless... HOWEVER, I do it the same way. I KNOW it's insane and OCD... but I do it anyways. Just like how I organize our closet by "season" and then each "season" by color. Or how I stack our shoes by size. Or how I arranged our DVD's by COLOR... and THEN alphabetized the colors. And how, if any of those are out of order... I get anxious and have to fix it immediately.

I'm nuts. He's nuts. Life is good. And weird.

oh boy. can you all make a sitcom out of your pre-married and married life? it's gonna be an entertaining one to say the least. :D

jeff is nuts. i am a complete nut/control freak/cleanazoid but that underware business makes no damn sense. whatsoever.

I said I do it that way, too, because I really do fold the undies that way. But I do think he's insane on the draping because from the dryer to the drawer it gets too wrinkled - WTH? It's underwear - noone, except your SO, will see it. But at least he doesn't iron them like I've heard some people do.

LOL well he IS crazy about his "wrinkle" OCD but I have to admit that I do the "every other direction" when folding things, like towels, tee shirts and pants. It does kinda keep the stack in balance.

LOL! I think the draping thing is a little weird and would drive me nuts, but the folding the boxers & stacking thing is how I do it too. And Col, it DOES make a difference, lol!! The elastic is thick, and the boxer material is thin, so after like 3 pairs stacked its all high on the elastic end and low at the material end. So annoying!

Oh, and sometimes if I'm feeling particularily organizational, I'll fold my undies too. That doesn't happen all that often though, haha!

hehehee yup!! What Jae said.

And um, hello?!?! HE DOES LAUNDRY??? Do not EVER question anything, at least he does it! I am lucky if Des gets his clothes in a pile even near the dirty clothes basket ... for ME to wash!!

ETA: Thankfully, I am a smart Mom, I no longer wash Cody's stuff. I told him he needs to learn to do it, cause no woman will ever WANT to do it for him. lmao
