*grrrr* (customer-service woes)

I just had a knock-down, drag-out fight with emusic.com and I could just SCREAM!!
Let me preface all of this by saying that I try my very best to be kind to customer-service reps. My hubby has this type of job and its not an easy one dealing with unhappy and unsatisfied customers all day long. So I really did *try* to be nice.... I promise.

So last night I signed up for a free 7-day trial with emusic.com. But I cancelled just a few hours after signing up because they literally have NO GOOD MUSIC.

This morning DH sees that there is an $11.99 charge on our account (what I would have paid if I hadn't cancelled after the 7 days). So I call them tell them about the mistake and the guy tells me that I didn't sign up for the trial, but rather did a regular subscription and the don't give refunds for that. I was all, "Like hell I did! I signed up for the trial and I'm NOT paying you $12 for a subscription that I cancelled 2 hours later and didn't even download any music on!". And this guy has the BALLS to tell me that I'm trying to rip them off and that I just don't want to pay blah blah blah. So I say that I want to talk to a supervisor and he gives me the "he's in a meeting" bull-$hit answer and I told him I would wait. lol

THE JERK HANGS UP ON ME!!!!! Oh I was pissed. I tried to be nice. I tried to be patient. But in the span of 2 minutes he calls me a liar and a theif and hangs up on me. Nuh-uh. Bad idea, dude.

So I call back and get another guy and I really am nice to him (cuz its not his fault his co-worker is an ass) and he tries to give me the "no refund" story too and I asked for supervisor and he says that his boss will tell me the same thing and I said that was fine, but I still wanted to talk to him. Now.

Suddenly the phone gets quiet and I can hear him talking to "someone" and then he comes back and says in his cheesy Customer-service Rep voice,
"Ma'am, I'm going to go ahead just this one time and waive our noefund policy and the charge will be reversed in the next 3-5 business days. Thank you for calling emusic and have a nice day".

Click.


Yup. Hung up on me again. But at least they're giving me a refund which is what I really wanted in the first place so I guess I'll let the little jerk live.

But it totally started my day off on the wrong foot and now I'm in a fightin' mood.

I would watch my account like a hawk to make sure that I got my refund Jenny. It still sounds fishy!
 
You know if you paid with a credit card or check card you can call your bank and make a claim on it so they will reverse the charges. All you have to do is provide proof you did not want to make the purchase (did they send you an email or anything which said free-trial??). I had to do that with this phone thing I bought. Magicjack I think its called. Got all my money back from that transaction no problem

yeah, I totally agree. But I promise one thing.... come hell or highwater, I'm GOING to get my $12 bucks back.

Even if I have to bleed it out of those two jackass CS Reps. lol

YES! Its terrible!! Everytime I did a search for an artist, it would come back and say "in order to keep download costs down, we do not carry music by this artist"

Uh, ok. Great business plan. Keep costs down by only carrying music that NO ONE would buy! :thumbup:
 
Ugh, what a PITA. We're going through something similar with our bank right now over a charge we did not make. Drives me bonkers. Watch your account and make sure. Geez. :glare::glare::glare:
 
Good for you!! If you don't get it in a few days, I'd certainly call the bank and tell them it was an unauthorized charge.
 
Glad youwere able to get it done. I'd call your bank now and tell them what happened, so if the company doens't refund the money in a couple of days your bank has a record of events if you have to call to have the charge reversed.
 
Ugh I hate rude customer service people who think they know it all. Glad you are going to get your money back.
 
wow, I had no idea that eMusic CS was so bad. A few years ago I did a trial through them and d/led Laurie Berkner and The Wiggles. that was all I could find :p.
 
That would make me furious!!!! I'm always the one who handles CS in our house, since DH says that I know how to get exactly what I want. I love the way you handled it, Jenny! She don't take no crap from nobody!
 
Ugh I hate rude CS people too! Rob had a 30 day free trial for eMusic when he got an mp3 player a few years ago, he couldn't find even one song worth downloading back then either!
