I got a new computer while we were home; nothing fancy, just a hand me down that actually has all the keys and a screen that shuts.

I was getting ready to install PSE 4, the program I have been very happily using for the last three years, and I can't find the installation CD. Is there anyway I can move the program from my old computer to my new one or am I gonna have to buy PSE. I'm not against upgrading, I just don't feel that I need and I don't want to spend the money if I don't have to...plus the fact that I'll have to have it shipped out here to me, which will take forever AND cost an arm and a leg in shipping.

I would love it if there's a sweetie here who can save my PSE 4.

Sorry, can't help you on transferring it over to your other computer, but if you decided to buy the new PSE, I think you should be able to buy it and download it right off Adobe's website, so you won't have to worry about the shipping troubles. Sorry about the missing CD, but yeah for a new computer! :)

Is the registration code (serial number) in the files some where on your computer?? Could you burn it onto DVD and then transfer it to your new computer!?!

If you do end up having to buy it are you in the market for a bamboo tablet...I was looking at them over at Academic Superstore and they come with a free copy of PSE5 (I think or it might have been 6). I hope you figure something out sweetie!!! ((HUGS))

I don't think there is anyway to transfer it from one computer to the next. But if you can find the serial number and call Adobe and they can give you a new disk. Otherwise, I'd say you' re out of luck. :(

They can get you a replacement cd, even for older versions if you have the serial number? That'd be great if they can, because my cd went corrupt on me.

I thought I lost my serial number on PSE7 when I had to reload it onto my new computer and I remember reading on the website that if you have your serial number, they will give you I think one replacement. Hope you find the serial number!!

Wow this was buried deep when I replied to it earlier this after noon....I'm glad I decided to post (even if I didn't help :D) Hope Kelli sees this!!!!

Well, I'm going to say Adobe is no help.

After reinstalling PSE5.0 on my desktop after the HD crashed, I contacted Adobe because PSE won't work...it says my S/N is invalid. I explained to the C/S that I was trying to reinstall due to a HD failure, but this is what the rep told me:

we need to inform you that
Photoshop Elements 5 has been discontinued with the release of Photoshop
Elements 7. Thus, we are unable to assist you with this issue. Please
note that Adobe Provides support for current shipping versions along
with the version prior the current version.

I am TICKED...it's not like I need anything other than the software to be activated on my computer (the same one it was on before...I'm not trying to upload it on a second system).

Let's be honest...I was feeling like I've been gone a few weeks and already no one even cares enough to respond to my threads. {sniff} I contemplated having Lizzy post the exact same thread for me just to get some response. So big hugs & thanks to you girls who care enough to send the very best. {If we had a hugging smilie, I would so be using it right now.}

Anyway, what is this Adobe account you speak of, Amanda? I'm sure I did register it, so I'm going to try that route today.

Thanks for all your help, girls!

If you log into Adobe you should be able to see your serial numbers. Under Your Account click on View Product Registrations. If it is there then you can at least verify to Adobe that you paid for the product. That will come in handy if you need to upgrade. I know you don't want to but upgrading would be cheaper than buying new.

Well... cheaper unless you buy an older cheap version. There's a place online that has 5.0 for $30 right now! but i have no clue about the international shipping thing...
