Custom vs. Premiere font?

Ok, so even though I hate my handwriting, I really like the idea of having my real handwriting in my project 365 layouts. I'm thinking I'll probably do cursive as I journal that way more often, but my question is whether I should get just custom or go premiere.

Any thoughts? Sorry Darcy, but I'm fairly sure no one would pay for my handwriting anyway! Ha ha!

I just got a regular one and trust me when I say that Darcy will never ever ever sell it. It's bad. I don't even use it much because I hate my handwriting so. Darcy did a fab job on it but yah, I hate my writing. LOL

I did the exclusive one b/c I thought it would weird me out if I saw my handwriting on someone else's LO. My handwriting is terrible so the chance of that was remote but still . . . .

Yeah for having your own font! I love mine and use it all the time. As for which to get, I think it depends on your comfort level. I got a print premiere font because I tend to be paranoid. Not that I think anyone here would use my handwriting in any non-cool ways, but the idea of having it available to anyone with a few dollars made me a little nervous. (Not that I really think mine would have made the sell list either, LOL.)

I went with custom cursive, cuz I write in cursive 95% of the time. I'd be flattered if Darcy decided to sell mine and people actually bought it.

I love mine and I went custom...I would love to do the cursive and may in the new year...
Darcy included mine in a grab bag when she sold at TDC and there is one girl at DST who uses it all the time...I'm totally flattered and LOVE seeing my font in her gallery!

Yes, this. My handwriting isn't great, but it is unique, and it just seemed odd that it would be on someone else's LO. Maybe I'd feel differently if my handwriting was nice. LOL

maybe I would too . . . LOL . . . I have no pride in my handwriting. I hardly use it myself . . .

I don't use mine much either. Darcy did a great job on it, it looks identical to my handwriting, but I don't love my handwriting so I don't use it. Dumb eh?

No, that can't be dumb b/c this is exact same situation with me :p. But I love knowing that I have it!

Yeah- it may ONLY end up being in my 365 book, but it is kind of cool and more "real" for it to be mine. I think I'd be flattered (but more likely surprised) if someone one day bought it chose to use it... but again, I don't think Darcy should bankl on it selling! LOL!

I was also thinking (and this is more a question for Darcy)- but DH's grandmother died last year. I have TONS of her recipes I could scan in for samples. I know many of the kids and grandkids remember those recipes, cards from her, etc. and I was going to reproduce the recipe cards so each member of the family would have them anyway... it might be cool to have them in her handwriting.

Hey Stephanie - custom vs. premiere is really a personal comfort issue. I don't sell all the handwriting fonts I do - not because they're bad, but because so many people's handwritings are similar, there's no point in selling 3 of basically the same style. There have been occasions where the writing was not marketable, but that wasn't because it was BAD...I've only had a couple of those LOLOL But I do sell those that I feel are worth selling, so know it's always a possibility.

And if there's ever an issue with naming a font, I can always rename it so that your 'name' isn't associated with the font. About 1/4 of the names I use are not the names of the people who they belong to - sometimes for their comfort, sometimes for my convenience (who needs 13 mandy fonts? LOL).

As far as your grandmother's....it's not something I do. Heritage fonts are expensive and hugely time consuming and almost never what you want it to be. There are people out there who do them - and the last one I saw was a minimum of $150 - and they charged per hour on top of the basic fee for however long it took.

Good to know- and WAY out my range (you know since I'm SAVING up for one of yours!) Ha ha!

Ok... so once I get my scanner set up, I'm getting the custom one (and My Dear Marsha- it's been on the wish list awhile and is begging for me to buy it). :)

Well, personally, whenever I am able to get my font done...who knows when, but I will definitely be doing premiere. I don't anyone else to have my handwriting, b/c then I don't think it's as special. Maybe that's just me though.

Oh wow, I LOVE the idea of having my own font on my P-365 layouts! That may just push me over the edge!

But I'm still worried I will hate it.

I am planning to do this, just haven't gotten around to it. Definitely not going to have it released though. I LOVE my handwriting, it's uber neat and I like that fact that no one else's is similar. (No one that I've ever seen anyway...)

I'm going to get a custom font. I kinda like the idea of other people using my font, I think it would be neat to see my handwriting on other layouts. Like "wow, they liked my handwriting!: :)

Plus I'm more able to come up with $10 than $20 and that is really the deciding factor. :)

If you like your handwriting, you will love your own font. Plus Darcy is awesome to work with. She re-did some characters for me and made me 100% happy.

my best friend bought me a custom print font for Christmas. I need to make my sample & send it off to Darcy. My handwriting changes a lot. Sometimes it is chicken scratch, sometimes it is cursive, it is so totally random LOL.
