?? about SSD blog

So I noticed in the comments of the SSD blog that a picture can be posted, like an avatar. There are only ever 1 or 2 with pictures. How the heck to you do it??
 
pretty sure they have to do with your blogger profile...if you comment while signed into your blogger acct it'll leave an avatar..pretty sure lol...
 
I THINK the ones with pics are people who have blog accounts with the same place as the SSD blog. They have profiles with the same blog host... but I don't know which one that is.

SSD uses wordpress

Nikki's has an avatar and she uses blogger/gmail so I think if you post while signed in, it'll post your profile pic if you have that option checked

Hmmm, I use blogger and and am logged in but mine doesn't show up. The wordpress thing makes sense though. Maybe Nikki has both.
 
I don't use Blogger anymore but if I remember correctly you have to go into your profile and check an option that allows your photo to show when you make comments. I think Wordpress is the same way, cause I know I have mine set to show also.
 
I use blogger but my profile pic for blogger is the same one I have here (well the most recent one I had here, not john cusack lol)...I was wondering why that pic showed up next to my comment b/c it's a profile pic I used almost 2 yrs ago lol...weird lol
 
Okay - this just bugged me too much. So I looked at the properties of Nikki's avatar and it is coming from http://gravatar.com/ - a globally recognized avatar that follows you from blog to blog appearing beside your name when you comment on gravatar enabled sites.

ETA: Okay - maybe my detective work isn't so hot. I just set one up and it still isn't working. Oh well!!

ETA again: Looks like it just took awhile. It's there now!!

Wow I don't even remember setting that up. I'm losing it lol
 
Yep it's called a gravatar and it's attached to your email address according to what it said when I went into my Wordpress profile, there was a place there to upload one or change it. I updated mine but it hasn't changed yet, but it said it could take up to an hour to refresh itself.
