Kinda sad today....

I'm feeling blue today. This morning DH and I decided that we have to get rid of our dogs. Now, for those of you that pay any attention to what I say about my dogs, you'll know they drive me crazy. They're spastic and insane and pretty naughty. But its only because we don't give them the attention they need and deserve. Things with the dogs got worse this fall when I went to work for the first time ever. They went from being with me all day long, to being stuck in their kennel for 8+ hours a day. And then, we were ARE home, they are so wound up and wild that we can't stand them. Its all very sad because they're sweet dogs and they deserve better.
So, we're going to re-home them. We're going to find the perfect family for them (they are inseparable so they have to go together) and hopefully they will live a happier life.
I know they drive me crazy, but I'm still sad. I lurve my pups and I'll be sad to see them go. :(

first of all: so many reasons i love you. your sense of what is right is just so high up there, your amazing.

secondly: i am even personally sad about augs and chloe. and just sooo sooo sooo sad for you friend. i really pray that you are not viewing this as failure or anything cause you are doing what is right by your family by working your tail off and now you are doing right by those sweet (insanely crazy, but soo sweet) doggies of yours. your doing the right thing (k, you really know that right?)!

thirdly: we totally NEED to wash this week down with a marg on saturday night.

HUGE HUGS!!!

Awwww Jenny! I'm so sorry hon, that's such a hard decision to have to come to. I know you'll find them a wonderful home where they get all the attention they need.

Awww hugs honey!!! I sure wish PA and Co were a lot close DH and I are batting the idea around about getting a dog(s) but after reading the process to go through at the Human society...I'm waivering!!! :(

I'll be keeping you in my thoughts and prays taht you start "feeling better about this" and that you find a GREAT home for your precious pups fast!!!

What's the process Elizabeth? (Just curious cuz I sometimes volunteer for a shelter.)

((HUGS)) girl! I know how you feel! we had to give up our sweet puppie 2 years ago and it was sooo sad...

((Hugs)) I know it's sad to give up a pet, but it sounds like you are truly doing the right thing!!! Big hugs to you!

Our HS has no puppies (we want one as young as we can get) and for some reason here in PA none of the bordering counties around us let "outsiders" adopt non spayed/neutered dogs. :( Which I totally understand but I'm still sad :(

{{Hugs}} You are doing what is best for your family even though it might not feel like it. I'm sorry you are sad.

That's because PA has an AWFUL problem with puppy mills and backyard breeders. The Amish mostly. It's totally heart breaking :( And, just about every shelter I know of now spays/neuters the animal as soon as possible. If it's too young they'll usually give you a voucher to get it done for cheaper or even free.

Have you checked Petfinder.com?
Also, this is gonna sound bad, but wait until after Christmas. Lots of ppl get their kids pets without thinking, and then get rid of it when the kid loses interest. The puppy wouldn't be 8 weeks, but you could probably get one maybe 12 or 14 weeks which is still plenty young.

Aww, we recently had to do the same thing. We adopted a lil toy Yorkie from a woman who had to move and couldn't take him with her. We fell instantly in love with the little cutie-pie, but with two kids, he just wasn't getting the attention that he deserved. He did naughty things too and we decided to try to find him a better home. We were lucky enough to find an older, retired couple who spoil him the way he deserves. They treat him like their child, which is the way it should be. I still miss him every day (it's been about a month and a half since we gave him up), but I know he's much happier and he's definitely well-loved. I do feel a bit guilty yet, because I wish we could have given him the perfect home, but I think I'd feel more guilty if we had kept him and couldn't give him the constant attention that he required.

*hugs* Were on the road with our dog like that. I am really sad and don't want to but he doesn't get a lot of attention and he is becoming to costly. :(

Yeah I did check Petfinder and that's how I found out about the bordering counties. There was a beautiful Chocolate Lab that was like 12 weeks old just over in the neighboring county and when I called and they found out I was not from that county they told me about the "rule" :(

Thanks about the Christmas tip....it didn't sound bad at all....it's a reality :( Maybe I'll renew our search after the first of the year!!!

We live in a college town and I figured it would be easy to find young dogs because almost every college kid I know gets a dog and most of them find out very quickly it's not all it's cracked up to be and turn them into the HS shortly after!!! :(

Awwww, thanks so much for all the support girls. I know I'm doing the right thing, but it still hurts my heart. I'm such a dog-lover and my doggies are just so cute and I'm really going to miss them. But the truth is that they need a better home and thats that.

Again, thanks for all the support. I just love this place!:wub:

P.S. Liz, check your texts. Friday night. Margs. Its a plan.

I am so sorry you are dealing with this. We just made the same decision and gave our pup up last night to a new home. We just can't give her the time she deserves and she's so sweet that she needs way more than what we can provide.
