i washed my palm centro in the washing machine.

yes, my not cheap phone that i love. it isn't looking good either.

what. in. the. h. e. double. hockey. sticks. is. wrong. with. me.

this is just nonsense.

DONT try to turn it on until it dries. Take the battery out and let it air dry for at least a day.

It might be ok.

If not, then smack yourself often. And not on the butt, either!

My brother's girlfriend's phone took a swim in the lake, and it still works. I believe they used a hair dryer on it. I'm not sure what type of phone she has though.

Strange things can happen with phones. There's still hope!

that sucks! we got the insurance for our phone, but if you read the fine print it doesn't include water damage for some dumb reason. let it dry out and hope it still works!

oh no, not your beloved Centro!

Hopefully after it dries out it will still work. I washed my USB flash drive and it still works. (OK, not the same as a phone but . . .)

I've also heard people say to put it in a bowl of uncooked rice to help draw out the moisture.

Yep, what she said. That's what the people at (used to be) Cingular told me to do when my oldest took my phone swimming with him. Take the battery out and place the phone and the battery in a bowl with uncooked instant rice and seal it up. Wait a few days and try your phone. It took mine about four days but it worked again! Good luck!

thanks for all the tips ladies. it's off and drying out, it's off to take a soak in some instant rice. maybe some butt smacking will help me out. :p i like it. :D

ok. off to eat more ding dongs with ice cold milk.

Oh no! Lots of P&PT for Mr. Phone. I once dropped mine in the toilet (don't ask) and after it dried out, it was okay (I took it apart and sanitized it lickity split).

I washed my DH's Razor phone and it works except for the battery so we are just going to buy a replacement battery.

My husband has done that twice... I secretky think he did it to get a new phone... but the last one I salvaged by drying it out.

Bummer Lizzy! :(

whilst my phone is bathing in instant rice you can find me bathing in a tub of vanilla ice cream topped with magic chocolate shell.:huh::glare::mad::blink: <----i'm all of these.

My dh has done everything you can think of to phones (Swimming pool, buckets of water, toilets, portapotties...) and so we are all too familiar with devices needing to be dried

He said that if you or your dh can open it up and let it dry for awhile that way too, it will insure a more thorough dry. He opens his phones up and lays them a few feet away from the heater to dry out. I think we have only had to replace one of the "wet" phones because it was toast.

I hope it works for you. That is so frustrating.

First off...step away from the ding dongs and ice cream! BAAAAAD Lizzy! *smack*

And like others have already said, open up that puppy and let it dry out. I've dropped my phone in a sink full of water before and after letting it dry completely, it works just fine now. So there's still hope that you don't have to change your name to Moron Idiot McGee :)

Oh no Lizzy!! I hope it ends up being ok after along dry out session. *fingers crossed* I have a Centro too and I  mine and would be heart broken if that happened to me.

oh for the love of pete! That totally sucks friend!! I know how much you love your centro. Here's hoping the rice works.

probably to late to tell you now but when you get your phone (or other electronic device) wet, take the battery out (do not attempt to turn it on), dry it with a clean dry cloth as best as you can then fill a large bowl half full with dry white rice put the phone in the bowl and cover it the rest of the way with more dry rice. Let it stay in the bowl overnight and in most instances the device will still work.

Oh and also I was told if you dropped your phone in something like soda or a sweet drink you should submerse it in rubbing alcohol then do the dry rice thing after you use the alcohol on it. The alcohol will get all sugar/stickiness out and the rice will dry it out.

I hope the rice works for you, Lizzy. Dawn suggested the same to me last year when my camera took an accidental dip in an cooler of water. The rice dryed out not only the memory card, but the camera too. I did replace the camera earlier this year, but only because it was old (in camera years), not because of the water incident. Oh, my pictures were all saved too, didn't lose a single one.
