Advent Calendar

Pam, I love the idea of the mini-muffin tray with goodies underneath!
This is one of those projects that I really want to do, but I don't have kids, so I feel like it's pointless.

Make it for yourself  - that's what I did. Nothing that says that grown-ups can't have advent calendars :)

make one for Jordan (fill it with Old Bay :p) or your doggie.

Love the idea of doing it for Tigah Meems!! You should do it Col...put her some lil treats in there for each day...that would be cute!

Hahaha, I might make it for Tigah-now :)
I'm looking for teh Kaiser one, but I'm having trouble finding it. It's featured in the December issue of CK, maybe I can find it there.....

Ok I found an image of it. You put numbers on the tags and then change the numbers for each day.

Here's an example of a finished one. (On the left, not the right)

that is cute, Col!!

i am almost done with mine. i still need chipboard letters and holes drilled in it. DH doesn't have a drill bit as of now. I painted my sheet with dark red paint and then dry brushed gold over it. looks sort of old and grungy. i like it. printed out papers from Deck the Halls, also made the squares using that kit. i used some stickers i bought on it too. my numbers are not consistant, lol. some are bigger some are smaller. but the double digits wouldnt fit if i didnt shrink them. oh well. i used some glitter paint on them and the edges of the sheet. and some clear christmas tree stickers along the bottom. cutting the chipboard wasn't as difficult as i thought it would be. didnt turn out too bad. i didnt have any photo paper, so it just regular printer paper. i would like for it to have been glossy, but i just used what i had. i then painted over the blue paper with blue and gold paint, just for kicks, lol.

k....don't laugh....lol

Chloe spilled a glass of water on the table next to me and splattered the top left corner. i guess it could have been worse, lol.

If you have a crop-a-dile, try that, it went through mine no problem :)

Looks great by the way

thanks

i just need to stop comparing myself to the Hybrid Babes. they RAWK and are Babes for that reason, lol

serial poster LOL I LOVE Pam's muffin tin! I am gonna make one for my friend that isn't really crafty. She will LOVE it :)

Col, seriously, make the muffin tin one, it's awesome and fill it with some lindt truffles for yourself. You might have kids one day! ;)

Corey that is lovely, really lovely

We made one of those Kaiser Kraft trees last week, although we like it, it wasn't as much fun as making the baking tray calendar. Ours was made with traditional products but could easily have been decorated with digital products :)

Loved coming home from work today to see new Advent Calendar Trays & the Kaiser Kraft Trees added to this post....So many ideas, so little time....LOL:)

The company is Australian, yes. I have seen their stuff in 1 LSS, that isn't really local for me so I don't ever go there, lol.

The LSS that I go to has a bunch of Kaiser. I feel in love with their stuff the first time my friend from AU sent me some for my bday. I'll have to call the LSS and see if they have any trees. I'd love to get one!

Okay, so I'm going to try my hand at hybrid. I'm getting crazy. First Ali's project and now an advent calendar. And I'm so nervous and intimidated. You'd think with all my years as a paper scrapper I wouldn't be, but I am, lol.

So can I ask a couple really stupid questions? I checked the how to thread and didn't really see the answers there...sorry if they are repeats.

So I love the look of the chipboard for the magnetic calendars. How do you cut chipboard? And can you punch chipboard? And where in the world to I find a crop-a-dile and how exactly do I use it? LOL. I checked out Hobby Lobby and Michael's this week and neither had one.

TIA!!

Regarding the Crop-a-dile, any store that sells scrapping supplies should carry this tool so if you didn't find it they were either hiding it or just out of stock. I bought mine through ebay and spent about 10$ less than the regular price at my local LSS (including shipping), so I would recommend that you check ebay.

As for the chipboard, I think those are great questions (ones I don't have answers to) so I will start a new thread in this forum so that they can be answered and easily found!

Good luck with hybrid, and have fun! It's addicting! lol

No questions are stupid :)

I think the crop-a-dile question has already been answered. Basically it's a hole punch (and eyelet setter) which most craft shops should stock. The crop-a-dile cuts through really thick chipboard, CDs, metal...loads :)

(As for round/square/shaped punches etc) I punched my chipboard for my calendar BUT I did not use very thick chipboard. If you're talking like a cereal box thickness (assuming they are the same in the US LOL!) I think most punches would cut through that. Just test carefully and see if your punch seems happy to cut through it...a little force might be needed but don't go crazy or you might ruin your punch. Otherwise I would just measure and cut using scissors or a craft knife. Hope that helps :) Let us know if you have anything more you want to ask about :)

I have tried to attach a pic of a crop-a-dile. You just squeeze the handles together :)
