Stories in Hand?

Ok! Just back from Michaels! Cardstock 50 sheet packs were on sale for 1.99, so I got 2. Plus got 2 Martha Stewart pens because uh... well, there was no good reason for that except Jessica Sprague said she liked them. LOL

So, if I use the chipboard for the dividers, any suggestions on putting tabs on that? Or will the chipboard just make it too full?? Maybe I should try the cardstock instead and convert to chip later if it works out.

You can staple the tabs to the page, or glue it on just like you would if it wasn't on the chipboard.
If you're unsure, I would print out the pages for the dividers and use them on their own, and then at the end of the class if you have the space, just glue them to the chipboard and use it.

Amber, what about mounting it on another piece of cardstock or PP? Make it 8" wide, and then there will just be the extra space on top and bottom.

Stacey, no one cares if your edges aren't straight. Neither will your mom :)

you were a cheerleader in another life weren't you? I read your posts and think I can do anything! QUICK - tell me how to get my house clean before my in-laws come for the weekend (without having to get off the computer  )

That's T AND A Lucrecia :p

And no, I was not a cheerleader in a former life, lol. I always despised the cheerleaders......

I couldn't get the layers to open up either so what I did was just used text to text DH, DD and DS names like a stamp across the words spouse and child. Then, instead of those brown tabs having spouse and child written on them, I used the clone stamp tool to color that brown box completely in to cover up the words, then used text again to put in the names. It worked out really well.

This binder is about as hybrid as I get--I can handle printing and gluing something I scrapped digitally, but I won't be adding any 'real' embellishments. I just rescrapped the cover so I could get my stitching and ribbon fix with digi goodies.

Rach, I think that later in the week we will actually be using the binder to record stories in. That way they are all in one place to pull from.

Jessica added explanations in the forum and My Class Pages earlier--you can find some of it here and the rest with all the other class info and downloads. She basically said that the binder is supposed to be our handbook not our journal. The actual recording of stories will be wherever and in whatever format we want--blog, video, digital files, etc. I'm sure some people will use the binder as their journal (if they can fit anything else in, LOL), but I'll probably keep recording stories on the computer so I can edit them 10,000 times while I write.

I'm redoing the colors/text/patterns to make me happy. :) Unfortunately, with the layered pdfs for only a few files, it's driving me bonkers. LOL My binder won't arrive until sometime next week, so right now it's just "pretty-ing" the files and printing. :)

i wanted to be inspired and do my own book design, but then i thought, what the hay? i like it the way it is! :) your my hero teresa! i do have all my stuff printed now...i shall have a finished binder tomorrow...pretty exciting stuff.

It IS very pretty the way it is! I just found these cute little embellies for the cover at Michael's and decided to change it up a bit! Can't wait to see your book. :)

I printed everything yesterday so hopefully today I can get it all put together. Was anyone else surprised by how much cutting there is?

Yes! I'm really wishing I stuck with 8.5x11 and just printed and punched holes. It wouldn't have been as cute, but it would have been so much faster. Between this and a hybrid project I did for DS's school yesterday, my arm is sore from all the cutting. I'm lucky that I already had a paper trimmer and Cutterbee, but I hope no one is trying to do this just with scissors!

Yes I was and my printer's print area made me have to cut more, instead of a nice 1.5" cut I had a 1.25" cut on one side and a .25" cut on the other. I got my project for today done, but I still haven't finished the Self pages from yesterday

yeeeeeeeeeees!! the horrid amounts of cutting. i've gone a little loopy from it to tell you the truth! thank the heavens that i am done with ALL my cutting now! i have my covers glued on (perfectly!), the tabs are glued to the appropriate pages...etc. now all i have to do is punch holes in the 1,986 pages, put them in the binder and then glitz up my cover. i want to get some ribbons and charms and stuff for it! wooohooo!!! :D

I'm looking things over every day, but my printer died after I printed up the stuff from the cocoa mix project I did for Heather. :D Oh well, I guess it's just time for that new printer, right?

Me too. Cuz once Col finds out I haven't d/led or printed or even LOOKED at anything, I'm gonna need a place to hide from the ass kicking that's forthcoming.

Oooh, you're gonna get in trouble! Good thing the forum's going down tonight--maybe by the time she sees this you'll have caught up.

Oooooooh so close! BUSTED SARA!!!

The LOOKING is the easy part ya hooker! Just get on the site and check it out. I think we start with the stories part tomorrow.
