Ipod, speakers/docking station

Recommend one to me. And any other goodies that I might need to go with it.

I finally bit the bullet and bought one.

I don't have speakers but I got FM transmitter thing for the car, cables to hook up to TV to watch movies/tv shows (came with simple dock), and earphones with FM radio thing.

I don't know if you really need any of these though. We hardly use them ourselves.

what kind of iPod did you get?

I did, too, this summer. We bought a car, and it had the little pluggy thing I could plug in my iPod, and I got REALLY tired of listening to my kids' iPods through my car speakers, so I had a yard sale and bought my own :)

I bought my dock at Target, but I'm not finding it on the web site.

My most important aspect of it was that I wanted detachable speakers. The dock is in my kitchen (I have ALWAYS wanted an undercounter CD player but never got one). The dock sits on my kitchen counter, and the speakers are clear on top of my upper kitchen cupboards (there is about a foot of space between the top and the kitchen ceiling)...it really gives it a surround sound in there  It also has a radio (which I use) and a CD player (which I don't use). When I'm cooking, I LOVE to have my tunes blasting...loud (think Nickelback...LOL!).

There are a bunch of docks out there...depending on what other things you want it to do (speakers, small dock, large dock, CD, radio) and what price range...

I think I'd like to get the adaptor to listen to it in the car. That sounds cool.

I got the Classic, 120gig. I love it so far, I have some cheap speakers that I bought for the shuffle I bought back in 2005.

I'm trying to rip all my CD's right now.

My sister treated herself to a Bose docking station for her ipod and she said it sounds absolutely awesome! Of course she'll be paying for it for the rest of her life, but she doesn't seem to mind, lol!!! :)

We have an FM transmitter for ours (it doesn't have to be one "for" iPods...any will work because the end is the same as a pair of earphones), but because there are so many radio stations up here, it's really hard to find a station to listen on and keep it on...and lots of times we get really bad interference.

I'd love to get something that I can just plug into the car so I can listen, instead of through a radio station. Do they make such a thing?!

Your car has to have the correct input for that Bree. Most new car have MP3/AUX hook ups available.

Or, you could go old school and get one of those cassette tapes with the wire that plugs into your ipod audio hookup (headphone jack).

I had an iHOME docking station for mine and I loved it. Until Tiger smashed into it and broke it.

LOL, I almost bought a cassette one but then realized...umm...we don't have a cassette player! Hahah. I don't know what our van has...it's a 2006 Chevy Uplander, and it has XM installed right in it, but I have no idea about the MP3/AUX thing. Maybe I'll have to get DH to look into it, lol...

You can actually have a car stereo put in your vehicle that HAS the little plug for an MP3 player. For DD's birthday, we replaced the stereo in her car with a car stereo with a plug-in for her iPod. I believe we paid about $120 for the car stereo (Pioneer), and they even installed it! She just plugs in her iPod and away she goes!!

In fact, I believe that is what we're going to get DS #1 for Christmas. His truck has a CD player, and the poor kid has a mess of CDs in his truck...so I think we'll do this for him for Christmas.

You might look into that option. It is MUCH better than trying to go through a radio station.

I have a Logic 3 docking station. I got it from Amazon. I like it because it had adaptors for all kinds of iPod plus a jack for other MP3 players. (very handy because I now have a Zen). It has a good sound and charges the iPod while it is playing. the one I have is like this

http://www.amazon.com/Logic3-i-Stat...2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1226010382&sr=8-2

But I got mine a couple Black Fridays ago for half the cost.

When my car stereo died I got a new one that has the connector jack for MP3 players. I am so lost when I have to rent a car & can't connect my player. I told DH when we go get anew car it ihas to have the jack or he just assume there will be a radio replacement:)

My son has an IHome that he uses for his docking station and loves it. It's got pretty good speakers too.

I have a little cheapy that I got at Radio Shak in my scraproom and it works good enough for me but I don't like my music loud.

I don't know what kind of car you drive but if you have a newer one it may have a few of those 'adapter' slots? You can go to the dealer and ask if there is an option for an mp3 player for your car, there are for a lot of models now a days.

DD has an Ihome Lamp..it's really cool...

DH is boring and only uses the charger then headphones lol
