If any of you participate (I am!) I'd love to see!! Maybe we can put our pics in this thread! I'd love to see everyone's polling place!

I can't participate, I live in Germany :-)

hmm, but, I can take a picture of our parish hall, because there is the election to the parish council ;)
and I am one of the candidates :)

In most places, photos inside the polling place are forbidden - completely. I'd even be surprised if taking a photo of it the day of would be okay.

Yeah these 100 year olds at my precinct are not that trendy. I can't imagine them letting me take a camera in there. Especially my big arse SLR. lol

You could always take one of the outside, though. ;)

Do y'all really want to see the rec center?

You can always stand on the nearest public sidewalk, give that it's 20ft (or whatever your state law says) away from the polling place. That way you know you won't be challenged.
I voted last week but that's an excellent idea and I think I'll just have to do it :)

I took my camera with me during the Primaries and was told it's against the law (at least in Texas). Something about violating the privacy of the vote. But, I asked before so I wouldn't get in trouble. I took pictures outside and I intend to do it again today!

GO VOTE!!!!!!!

That's what we did - we walked right out side, but faced the building instead of using it as a backdrop and immediately took our photos w/our stickers :)

The polling place workers took it? Really? I wondered if they would even let you bring them in.

I had no idea it wasn't allowed.. since I was in line outside for an hour.. had no idea until I got all the way in and halfway through the building.. then they took it. LOL

I dont know that we have an really polling places in our area. Everyone is mailed their ballots and nearly everyone mails them back in. There are places to drop it off though...

what a neat idea!

Kim, take a picture of your mailbox. :) I have a friend who mailed in an absentee ballot who did just that for this project.

Our polling place is the boys' school. It's less than a quarter mile from my house, so I can take a picture of it whenever. I'm not going to stress over trying to do so today.

I was going to take photos of the long line, but they brought us all inside before I could do so. When they did that, it reduced the impact significantly - the line was not completely visible as it snaked down and around a couple of hallways. DH said he might try later on, since he doesn't have to vote anymore (and doesn't work). I might take pics at the Starbucks or Graeters as I heard that you get a free coffee or ice cream with your voting sticker (we'll see if that's true)...

ETA: the Graeter's rumor wasn't true :(

So far here in my area, you can get free ice cream from Ben & Jerry's, a free donut from Krispy Kreme, free coffee from Starbucks and a free chicken sandwich from ChickFilA.

It's a shame you missed capturing the full line's impact, but it's great that you’re exploring other photo opportunities. Nice try with the Graeter's rumor—at least the free coffee from Starbucks made up for it.
