Can you beleive these jerks! The government just bailed this company out and they send their freaking execs to a spa to the tune of $440,000! Oh this just makes my blood boil. I could really use a spa vacation. Apparently all I need to do is do a piss poor job running a company, stick my hand out to the government and whine and *bam* I'm sitting in a spa! I just cannot believe it.

Yeah, I saw this on Fox this morning and almost threw my coffee cup at the TV I was so freakin mad!!!!

Well thank freaking goodness we bailed them out then. :cursing:  :cursing:

Someone should've asked about THAT in the debate last night.

this really p****s me off!! Bastards!! like the article said, there are thousands of people suffering and losing their homes etc and they go wine and dine at that freaking spa??!! OMG!! :cursing:

ummmm yea that is wrong on so many levels. I heard this on the tv as I was waking up but it didnt register completely. I actually thought I was dreaming when I heard it. So many things wrong with this I dont even want to get into it because I get soooo angry

I really cannot believe the gall of some people!!! WTH are they thinking? There are so many people out there that need help and just 1/100th of that money wasted would be a huge help to a LOT of people.:mad::mad::mad: I HATE STUPID PEOPLE THAT THINK THEY DESERVE STUFF LIKE THAT!!!

Unbelieveable...well...no, I guess it's just typical. I'm so fed up with the entire election/econony/bailout/gas situation that I just can't stand it. It's time our leaders get their heads out of their rears and get a clue. I could do a better job running this country than they have been...and that's pretty bad.

It's insane. I think they did say something about it, Col. I remember Obama saying that someone should have to pay the government back after they got help because they did something like that, and he was either talking about Lehman Brothers or AIG. I'm not sure which now.

This is really shameful and it makes me so mad that we the tax payers will be paying for their spa day when I could use one myself.

On a lighter note though I just about busted a gut when I opened this and saw your new Avi. That is the cutest thing ever. Is that a crab hat the dog has on. :D I needed that laugh.

I couldn't believe it when I heard this on the news. It's disgusting! I'm also wondering why their CEO's are receiving huge sums like $22 million when they leave the company!

Yep. Sounds like the right formula to me. Ignorance + Greed + Victim Mentality + Irresponsibility + Worst congress in history = government hand out (code word for your tax dollars and mine).

All that hype about how the sky was falling and the sun wouldn't rise if we didn't add another 700b to the national debt...and look where it got us. The stock market continued to plummet even after their pathetic attempts to panic every citizen in the USA. This morning it was finally up, what, 25 measily points? Dudes...we've lost 25% of our 401k since January. This is just a band aid on a problem bigger than my rear and it's going to do nothing but de-value the dollar even farther. It started out as a bad bill and then they had to fatten it up with pork and make it worse and scratch some backs so they'd get even more votes to pass it. Perhaps if we made toy wooden arrows or were rum runners it could benefit us- that's just two of the earmarks shoved in those 400+ pages of trash.

A real disgrace is what the whole thing is. Where are the fiscal conservatives? Seems like all the major players are the same coin, just flip sides. Really making me sick to the stomach lately.

I wasn't too happy when I heard that last night - and yes it was brought up in the debate last night. I can't believe the jerks had the gall to do that after being bailed out (yes I substituted words for what I really want to say). After I was happy that Willumson (the last CEO at the bailout time)) said he wasn't taking his golden parachute which made me feel like at least SOMEONE has morals, they turn around and do this. Un-friggin-believable. Sigh. And I wonder why I am trying to find a job at the senior management/executive level - I could honestly never be that greedy and unscrupulous.
I agree with the congressional reps and Obama that these guys need to pay it back. Seriously.
I hope that the young'un they have heading the bailout management does a good job of stopping things like that from happening. He'll certainly need a pair of steel cojones.

I could be wrong, but I think Hank Paulson (former goldman sachs exec) appointed another goldman sachs buddy to head this thing. Hmmmm.....interesting.

Being bailed out might have been very stressful for them. They had that fear for a few days that they might not get as large a paycheck as they did the previous week. That could cut into their ability to play golf or spend the weekend in the Hamptons or charge $500 lunches to the company. My god, they might have to buy OFF THE RACK shirts!!! They needed a little rest after all that tension.

*snort* I love sarcasm.

The whole thing just shows why these companies need regulation. They simply can't be trusted to fairly run things on their own. Technically the spa trip wasn't just for executives (it was for the top sales people) and had been in the works since before the bailout, but when you can't afford to keep your company running without government assistance, perhaps you should be canceling your fancy trip!

Honestly, I'm more annoyed that the executives are getting to keep their "performance" bonuses and their million dollar-a-month paychecks for "consulting." That's even more ridiculous than the spa day.

I totally hear you Lynette. I'm sure this trip was in the works for a long time and most of the money already spent. But what I want to know is what this vacation was for, a job well done? obviously not! And all the other things you mentioned just burns me. Frankly I think that these people should do all that work for free for creating all this mess. Its so not right....

Well the article I read said it was for the top 70 salespeople or something like that. I guess you could technically argue that they possibly did TOO good of a job peddling these shady products. :D The whole mess just annoys me and I'm even more annoyed that the government seems surprised that this is how the company spent it. What did they really think they were going to do, suddenly change their shady ways?

And it was on the insurance side of the company and not the financial side. But it's still a company that should've helped itself out first before screaming we're dying. And while the bailout wasn't just for AIG...it was for the whole financial industry that is supposedly going under (and what really stinks is that this is an industry that produces absolutely nothing. Most of the financial problems are not just in the real estate market, but in futures and short investments, etc. just exchanging paper back and forth on notes that really mean nothing and produce nothing to hlep the economy as a whole0.

There is just so much about all this that is totally wrong. I'm so mad ad Congress, so mad at the President, so mad at my senators and Congressmen that will NOT be getting my vote when they're up for re-election. I think, on the whole, we've really been screwed on this one.
