Now DH wants to get rid of Miffy!

why?

B/c both kids have Miffy-inflicted scratches/bites on their faces. Too close to the eye area for DH's comfort. Miffy bit Henry 1/4 inch away from his eye. Lily has a 3 inch scratch on her cheek. Out of nowhere Miffy will just attack our heads. Once she knocked the glasses right off my face. Henry will just be sitting on the couch with his head on the armrest and Miffy will jump up and attack his head.

She seems to just do this w/o provocation. I thought it was just kittenish behavior. But DH is a bit freaked/stressed about it b/c she does go for the face.

So we were talking about getting rid of Miffy. Apparently Lily is all for this b/c she ran around the house and gathered up all of Miffy's toys and is ready to send her packing.

I figure that Miffy will outgrow this. Other plan is to maybe overfeed Miffy so that she is too fat to jump up (kidding).
 
it is totally normal kitten-ish behavior and she will outgrow it.. tell him to chill (LOL that is if you now love miffy haha)
 
awww it is kittenish behavior. If she is doing something that is bad like that you can get a watergun and squirt her when she is misbehaving. It doesnt hurt her and it will get her to stop. Also you can get her toys to play with that are going to allow her to use all her energy up. Getting her another kitten (I know just what you do not want to do probably) to play with will also do that and you could possibly look into allowing her to go outside to play for short periods. I know how hard it is especially if you arent kitty people but she will totally outgrow that.
 
Yea it's definitely kitten behavior. I second the squirt bottle idea. Most cats haaaaaaaaaaaaate the water sprayed at them, and will figure out to stop what they are doing. Eventually all you will have to do is reach for the bottle and they'll stop, lol.
 
LMBO...yeah...they usually don't just stop...they take off running like a bat out of hell. I've had lots of laughter-induced tears at the expense of my cat's reaction to the spray bottle!

Tell him it's a good thing the kids didn't do that when they were babies or you know he would have dropped them off at the local Waffle House at the first sign of a molar. :p

[And I hate cats.]
 
well my passive aggressive plan is to never find a shelter for Miffy.
Now that I think about it, DH must be feeling somewhat ambivalent about getting rid of her b/c why would he give me the task of finding a place to take her? It will probably take me months to find a place ;) .

In the meantime, I guess I will have to invest in holsters and water guns for for the entire family. We will have to be armed and ready at all times.

We spray her when she gets on the kitchen table. But she hasn't given up on doing it yet.

She does have toys. But apparently my son's head looks like an even better toy. (with his current haircut, I guess his head might look a little hedgehoggy).

hmm, I wonder if there is a Waffle House nearby . . .
 
just strategically place spray bottles around the house. If you can tell when she's about to jump ip and attack, spray her right before. You can say no, but I'm convinced all cats are deaf so it might not help.
 
Get a water gun and a feather duster. My cat (many years ago) would go crazy for the feather duster and attack it. It kept the cat from attacking me. And a procedure called declawing.

Side note- Billy's family had a cat that would attack them. He would hide around the corner and jump on them when they walked by. The cat inflicted a lot of pain so he was renamed PITA (Pain in the a**).

ummm. no stratigic placement necessary. there's a gonna be a war and when it goes does the mimi family will be ready holsters and all...i'm seriously cracking up, imagining everyone with spray bottles and holsters and miffy coming at the little ones full throttle. then everything slows down matrix style. and miffy gets sprayed and then she goes down. lily 1. miffy 0. the crowd goes wild....
 
Here is a very good alternative to declawing from what Ive seen and I wanted to tell you that it might be the perfect thing for you. It wont keep her from attacking but it will keep her from scratching.

Oh also declawing is not good in another sense because if she doesnt stay inside her whole life even if she gets outside for a little while it takes away alot of her defense if not all of it. I am another non-believer for declawing.
