altered paint can for trick or treats!

i've seen those paint cans at Menards. the last time i went in there they were out though. I haven't tried Lowes or Home Depot but they might also. Or just a local hardware store maybe.

I did Easter Basket cans instead because we don't trick or treat on Halloween. I did make a mini candy can for Anthony's teacher. It is in my gallery at DST

You can buy clean empty paint cans of all sizes in the paint section of Home Depot. Probably Lowes too. Any hardware store I think.

I'm going to make matching one's for Sara's kids :) JJ wants to be a pirate and I already have Kay's Pirate Ship collab, so it's perfect. Plus, I can get rid of some of the paint cans I bought and then never did anything with :p

I am thinking that this would be perfect for my niece...she will turn two 2 days after Halloween so I think she would be able to handle carrying this....I just found a paint can I bought ages ago and never used. THe best part is that it is white so I don't have to paint it :)

For the handle I, to make it more comfortable for those little hands, I was thinking of just wrapping the ribbon around it a bunch of times with the majority of it being in the middle (at the top) of the handle!!! We shall see how this goes.

I've always wanted to alter a paint can - I need to find someplace locally that sells them!

I did them last year for my girls' teachers @ Christmas time, I found the plain gallon size paint cans at Ace Hardware for under $2 each I think. I bought a couple extra, I need to pull them out and work on them!

I can't see the handles being too uncomfortable - I mean, yeah they hurt when you're carrying around a can of paint, lol...but a can full of candies (or partially full) isn't going to be as heavy so would hurt a LOT less.

Col's the best.

I can't wait to see what you come up with girls! I have altered many paint cans and used them for different gift ideas, one had a movie night theme with blockbuster gift cards, microwave popcorn, and movie candies in it, another I did with bbq sauces, dip mixes, etc, also did a baby gift one and a bath themed one. They make great gift containers too! I may make myself one to put the candy in this year to give out since my boys would never carry one!

paint cans are FUN to do - this one is my favorite of all times because of the boa around the top!!! It was a sleep over birthday can - had a pair of pajamas in the bottom, wrapped microwave popcorn, a gift card for a local movie rental place, and a bunch of little things like a fuzzy pen, notebook, nail polish etc.

 wonderful ideas!! You rock they hybrid girl!

I'd love to see them!!! Seeing other projects always gives my creativity a boost!!!

I'll dig up the pictures this weekend, they are on disk. They were before I started doing digi so they aren't hybrid, they are traditional paper but it still can give you an idea of different designs.

wow, great ideas!

Mine may actually end up not being hybrid; i probably won't get around to making these til last minute and it'd be easier to just go to Hobby Lobby and buy a few sheets of halloween paper and embellies and do it that way. but you never know, i may cave and do them hybrid anyway, lol.

I did some of these for teacher's gifts a few years ago. They are so easy!!!! I got some {free} paint can openers (I don't know what they are called, they're like a weird screwdriver tool with a loop on the end) from either HD or Lowes and tied them on to the handle to open them with.

Oh ya, I forgot I had gotten those paint can keys too!
