WOw, I guess I get to say Hi to Ike, too!

Looking at the new hurricane preditions for Ike, they've now upgraded it to a Hurricane coming through Eastern portions of Dallas/Ft Worth (I live on the NE side).

We knew it would be a Tropical Storm, and we've had the sustained winds that make it a Cat 1 in regular storms in the springs, it's just weird to think, living this far inland, we're gonna have a hurricane !

Yeah looks like I will be getting him too. The eye will just pass me around Saturday night. Of course it will be way less devastating by then but we have had way too much rain this year and I'm worried about flooding. They say we will be getting 5-10 inches of rain between tonight and Sunday night. :glare:

Anyway, Texas girls...please stay safe!

Darcy, if you want to send Ike off in a different direction, I wouldn't mind...

I went through Alicia in '83 when I lived in Houston...and then Allison in '01. After I moved to Oklahoma I thought I was done with hurricanes, and just needed to worry about tornadoes. WRONG...Erin reformed over us last year and flooded nearly the entire state. I'm hoping that Ike is nicer.

Oh, and I'm hoping that the server company that had the fire and knocked out so many digi sites earlier this year doesn't experience problems...that place was in Houston, and I don't want to lose any of my digi connections!

It'll be a lot like a strong spring storm for us, just longer with more rain. And we are taking a few precautions....the boys are out getting 'provisions' like candy and chips and spaghettios (a super treat since we rarely eat them) and poptarts in case we lose power, which we do just in regular storms. And we're doing things like moving the cars away from the neighbor's tree (found someone who will let us stash our cars), and pulling down the clothesline, etc. It's just kind of exciting here having to do a little prep!

I know Amanda isn't looking forward to it at all...stay safe, sweets!

I'm 2 hours south of you, Darcy, and we're still not sure if we're going to be affected or not. It looks like we're right at the edge of it and it could go either way. Regardless, I had the kids help me bring everything in out of the yard this afternoon so that it's not blowing around, and I did pick up some water and batteries just in case we lose power. Be safe!

We're hunkering down here in Houston! We've got enough food and water to last 5 days at least.

Stay safe everyone! All those in the path of the storm - I wish you Godspeed!

wow - I would have never thought it would hit Dallas! Now that it has moved more north I'm not even sure San Antonio will see much rain from it. Amazing the difference a few hundred miles makes! Stay safe!

I've heard it's going to be a little more east... but I don't think we'll really know until it gets here. Either way, Shane told me we could get 60 mph winds! That's amazing. If it's that bad here, I can't imagine how it is in galveston and houston! How scary!

Darcy, Melissa, Sarah...and the rest of you that I might have missed...how are things looking your way today? Did Amanda have to evacuate or is she far enough inland? Stay safe girls, I'm praying for you.

Amanda and her family are sticking it out (as is MelissaL88's) as they're on the farther sides of Houston from the coast and not worrying so much on the storm surges the beaches are, but the winds and such will be their issue.

We won't see anything til tomorrow, and it'll just be a regular spring storm for us at this point as they've downgraded it to a Tropical storm for us, and it's pulling eastward, so we're on the western side now. But there will be plenty in the path that get TONS of rain

Hang in there Darcy. I just called Amy too, to see if they were in any danger and she said she didn't even think they were going to get rain. PHEW! I'll be worrying about you gals until it's over!
