Dance Classes

Who's kids are in dance class? I just wanted to ask since I went and got the kids dance shoes today! What classes will they/have they taken?

Last year I signed my 2 up for what they called Creative Movement. Aaron took the whole year except the very first day of class (he was too scared). Aubrey took ONLY the first day and was too scared to go the rest of the year. Go figure! But at the end of the year when my boy got to go up on stage and sis saw it she was like "I AM GOING TO TAKE DANCE CLASS NOW MOMMY"! :D

So this year, they will be in Ballet, Tap & Musical Theater! They are SO excited! It starts on Monday (and...fun fun for mommy  , it is the same day as their gym class & swimming lessons at the YMCA - a few hours afterwards).

DH and I are considering putting Natalie in dance, but I think registration is over now, lol. I don't really have a way to get her there and be home for when the bus brings Mason home (his school isn't in the same town where the dance studio is, so I don't even have time to go get him and then drive to the other town). But we want to put her in because then maybe she'd be able to get some coordination happening, lol.

Abby is in predance.. they do ballet, tap and tumbling. This is her 2nd year in it and she loves it. JJ and I are doing a parent/tot tumbling class and he liked it last week so we'll see how he feels on Saturday. LOL

Amelia did Creative Movement here, for the past two years. Now that she's 5, they move to more "specialized". She will be taking ballet, as that was all she could get into on Saturdays. Rae will start Creative Movement this year for the first time. Amelia wanted to do tap as well, but it just didn't work out with the schedule.

We have to travel 1 1/4 hours each direction for dance class, there is nothing closer, but Amelia loves it SO much, we don't mind, even though it is tiring. I hope Rae enjoys it LOL

We want to put Kathryn in dance but haven't decided when or where! Apparently they can do a little nothing class at the rec for really cheap. We might do that this year and then something more next year.

maddie was in ballet from 3 to 9! she stopped ballet this year cause she was bored of it. weird, i know! anyway...she actually decided to take her dance a diff direction and is starting hip-hop tomorrow! :)

Both my girls were in Ballet since age 4 but this year they both decided they wanted to do something different. I think Riley is going to be more into sports and wanted to play Soccer and Regan wants to continue dancing but she wants to do more Hip Hop/Modern dance of which there are no classes available here. SO, she's in her 2nd year of cheerleading and hopefully we'll find something for her later.

BTW, there's nothing cuter than a toddler in a tutu.

mt daughter Miranda (3) is starting something called "ballet babies" next week, for 3-4 year olds. Mostly the skip in a circle in little tutus, but the do learn the basic positions, and its really cute when the perform every 4th week. It's run through our city s its super cheap (about $2 a class), but I remember doing it when I was little... I still have my little pink leotard! I have to pick up some shoes this week! :)

My 3-yr. old, Claire, just started ballet last week and goes for her second class tonight. She absolutely loves it (and feels so beautiful in her leotard, tights, and skirt!)!!!

I was a dancer for 12 years! I miss it!

OH I miss it too! I danced for 21 years and am just so sad that those days are gone. I mean, I can take adult classes now, which I plan on doing next year once I get some of this weight off (I gained [FAST] after I stopped dancing 10 years ago). I think I will take tap class.

Lindy, that's so cool that they have that in your city! I never heard of that but what a great affordable way to get kids started!

My 4 year old (Hailey) takes ballet, tap and tumbling. My son (Hunter) who is 7, takes hip hop and breakdancing. They both love it. Hailey started last year, but when recital approached, she wouldn't get on stage. I was so sad. When Hunter saw the boy's performances during the recital, he had to take the classes. They competed in Myrtle Beach this past summer and got 3rd place in hip hop.

I guess I will expand on Ellie's dance classes (since everyone else did LOL)

Last year she was in the "Preschool Dance" which is basically teaching them the foundation for dancing. They did stretches and conditioning types of activites to cute little songs and really made it fun. They performed only once, which was at the year end performance. It was really a full "ballet" musical, with actors and a story line.

This year she is in the "Creative Movement" class. She has been learning more terms this year, but because the class has a lot of new students Ellie is a little advanced for that class. In January her teach may move her up to the Kinder Ballet class so that she performs with that class for the end of the year performance.

Yeah I was the same way after I quite and then I got pregnant so I gained even more! haha...I loved tap that was my favorite. My old teacher teaches an adult tap class that I have been wanting to attend...but lak of money... :(
