anyone doing the decluttering of their house with FlyLady? I started reading her site today and signed up and wanted to know how it is going for anyone who is already doing it?!

I am so ready to get my house organized and back in order, and I think this may be the way! I am also working on chore charts and menu planners to get us on a schedule too! Any input or ideas for all of this will be appreciated! Thanks!
 
I've done Flylady, though pretty half heartedly. I get her daily email (as opposed to all of them, separately, which ended up being annoying for me, lol)...I do like her decluttering and some of her tips have helped me stay on top of things. It's amazing how much you can get done in little spurts throughout the day.

I sooo don't do the wearing shoes thing though, lol.
 
I'm a FlyBaby, have been for years!

I think her emails can get a little overwhelming, but her basic system TOTALLY WORKS! I have my morning and my nighttime routines, I have my weekly cleaning routines and if you stick to them, they really will help.

Her methods for decluttering are really great also. I always love doing her Flings (where you can't stop until you have a certain number of things).

AND I totally buy into her theory that you can do ANYTHING for 15 mins and it really will help!

As you can see... I'm a BIG fan! LOL!
 
I've been following the system for going on 2 years (admittedly, I'm better some days than others) - but it really works!

The Flings are great, and keeping it to 15 min. intervals REALLY helps!

I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a new system for keeping the house in order. It's highly customizable, so it can work for anyone!!

Yes, I have tried to do Flylady off & on for the past couple of years! I think it is a wonderful plan and I really want to do it because I sooooooo want to be organized. When I first found the site I made a control journal, but I need to redo it because some things have changed. I get so excited about things and then just forget about them after a while!! Well, I'm really determined to stick with it this time.

I get all of the emails, but I signed up with an email address that I don't use as my main one. I may have to go to the once a day thing too because I never read all of them- it does get overwhelming.

I hope it works out well for you! I really think that it can work :)

But I've adopted a few of her ideas. Like short, quick cleaning bursts. And decluttering (I'm a compulsive purger lol). Other than that, I don't follow her. Wish I could, though. She's one together gal!
 
I tried it about a year ago. This makes me want to go back and research some more. I will take anything that will get me organized.
 
I love Flylady. I don't do all of her stuff -- a zone here and there, or not. And I don't necessarily buy the obsessively shiny sink/dress to the shoes thing. BUT, she made me a total convert to the idea of unapologetically getting rid of stuff. I am fanatical about it and try to declutter the place as much as possible -- it's a challenge living with my packrat husband and son.
 
I LOVE it! The book is totally worth buying, too. It's a fun read and has lots of ideas.

That said, the one thing the Fly Lady CAN"T do is make you get up off your butt, turn the computer off and fling or boogie or whatever it is you're supposed to be doing instead of mindlessly browsing forums and galleries. If she could figure out a way to do that, she'd be a millionaire.
 
LOL Kellie!! Yes I need to hire someone just to sit here and yell at me all day! Get away from that computer! LOL!! I will have to check out her book!
 
I like her ideas but the amount of emails was totally crazy. I spend enough time on the computer, the last thing I need is another reason to be online. That's why I don't get anything done in the first place. :D I did start following her whole "shine the sink" motto though and it's made a HUGE difference in the kitchen.
 
I don't do FlyLady, but I have a TON of routines that I follow on my own. I am a big tidy-er according to my kids LOL.

And yes, my sink is ALWAYS clean. I hate anything in my sink or on the counter LOL.
 
i tried Flylady a few years ago. didn't get very far. you guys are making me want to try again though.

I printed out the routine thing and the cleaning list and put them in page protectors ( doesn't mean it look at it everyday tho lol)

Overall Flylady has really helped me.
 
You totally have to try it. Once you do it for a while you will probably become half-a-flybaby like many of us. But she does have some awesome techniques that you find yourself using all the time. (In fact I still get up and get dressed to my shoes everyday... )
 
I tried it a long time ago.. but I'm a huge packrat so it's a problem. LOL I'm trying to be better. I deep cleaned the upstairs this weekend and have a ton ready for trash tomorrow.. the trash men are going to haaaaaaaate me.
 
I,too, tried it a long time ago. I got tired of the bombardment of daily emails,lol. I have to admit this. I am a flylady drop out. About the only thing that ever stuck was the 15 things in a plastic bag to toss out thing,lol.
 
Can you do it without subscribing to the emails? I refuse to have my inbox bombarded. I already get enough crap in there and barely have time to glance at scrapping newsletters, etc.
 
you guys are all gonna bloody hate me, but i already do all of the things she suggests to keep your house in order!! why didn't i think of a website first??LOL!!
 
Holy crap, that is a loooong video! It could be an epic sink trilogy! And the music is available on their Fly CD!!... um, no thanks! :D

So, even after muting that godawful song, I couldn't even get half way through the video... and there was still no actual sink cleaning at that point. :D

i should be doing this. my house is a disaster! i don't know where to start; i'm overwhelmed. I suffer from CHAOS. I want a cleaner house, but like i said, i'm overwhelmed. and my hous isn't very big, one story around 1200 square feet, lol. at the moment, i'm trying to get through my massive amount of laundry. after that's done then i can concentrate on everything else. the laundry just gets in my way anyway, lol
