Football talk in here!

Ok, so I'm very outspoken about how much I dislike the Patriots and as I call him "CryBaby Brady" but I feel so bad that his season is over due to the injury he sustained in the first quarter of the first game of the season. I don't want to hear how their season "could have been" - I wanted each team (and esp. my Steelers) to have the chance to beat him and the Patriots. I don't wish injury on anyone....

On another note, anyone see the Promo for the CBS Scene Restaurant in Foxboro? Talk about a cool sports bar/restaurant/club!!! wonder how many more CBS/NFL team clubs will pop up across the US???? I'd love to see a Steeler one here in the Burgh!!!

It sucks whenever a good player is taken out by injury, but it's also the nature of the game. If the Pats are as good as everyone is always saying they are, they should still be able to pull out a decent season even without Brady. Don't get me wrong, he's an amazing QB, but when something like this happens you have to have a good backup too.

I wish Jordan wasn't such a cheapskate and would let us get Sunday Ticket. I hate getting stuck watching the Ravens and the Skins, lol.

Giants fan in the house!

Sidenote: One of my favorite parts of football season is the return of Peyton in commercials (and I'm loving the Peyton/Eli ones too).
"My Brother and I would like to announce "ooooooh we're scared""

Sorry, my DH is a Pats fan, and I'm a Dolphins Fan so I feel no sadness at all. Yes, if I had known he was a Pats fan before we dated, I may have said NO. :D :D

If he was seriously injured I might feel badly, but an ACL? Well it'll heal. DH has a certain sadness about him today though LOL

I just read about injury a few minutes ago. I didn't know he got hurt because I was at work yesterday. I feel bad only because it happened in the first quarter of the first game but they should have enough good players that they can have a good season without him.

Oh yeah one more thing GO COWBOYS!!!!

I was watching that game when Brady got hurt. I'm the OPPOSITE of a Patriots fan (plus Brady went to Michigan and I'm an Ohio State fan), but any time someone is injured for the season during the first game it's sad.

My Chargers lost to the Panthers with zero time left. :( :(

Well.... sadly it was a KC Chief that took him out. Although.. without Brady they still beat us.... which yeah.. is not good. LOL

I'm just glad I didn't have him as my QB in my fantasy league.

LOL! I was very glad I got Payton! When I was setting up my fantasy ranking and put Tom Brady below Payton, my husband was trying to convince me that I was crazy. I stood firm and got Payton instead... now my DH thinks I was brilliant. LOL I was also really excited that yesterday I was able to pick up Matt Castel who is the backup QB for the Pats! Sorry SSD fantasy league girls! :)

Rumor is though that they have Chris Simms and possibly Tim Rattay coming in for a workout so Cassell may be back to a backup.

Well, after watching Brady play for several years at Michigan (Go Blue!), I was so sad to see him get injured. We aren't Pats fans around here by any means, but there will always be a soft spot in my heart for Tom Brady.

Sara......... I have a fellow BEARS lover here???? I am SO happy to see that I can't even tell you. Was that game just he BOMB last nite or what??????? So excited, just hope they play that well all year!!!!

Ooh I know it! It was such a good game and honestly not expected at all! If they can bring it like that the rest of the season we'll be in good shape.

I'm really really really (times infinity) hoping the Cubbies can win this year. THAT would be my dream come true.

But I digress...

I do feel badly for Brady. I hate to hear of injuries like that. But I think the Pats are a solid team and will still do well without him.

(And Julie...nice move!)

OH YEAH....GO CUBBIES....I hope they can get it together, those last few games ( except Saturday's game) should have been WON!!! I actually felt bad for Woody yesterday, tough loss for him!!!

I'm a Patriots fan only because I'm originally a New England gal. That and I have to have one team that wins on a regular basis. My other 2 teams are the Bengals (I live near Cincy) and the 49ers (my Dad rooted for them since I was little and I carry that lonely torch) - so yeah, not exactly great teams, but it doesn't stop me from rooting from them. Looks like it will be another dismal year for both of them if yesterday was any indication. And I do root for the Colts when they aren't playing any of the other 3 (my mom's side of the family is around Indianpolis and I was born 1/2 hour away from there, plus Peyton is really cool).
I was really sad to see Brady's injury - he looked in a lot of pain. I'd be interested to hear what the MRI shows. But to be out the whole season after the first game, ouch. Thank goodness the Pats were able to pull a win out in spite of things, but I credit it to Bruschi and the great defense line.
Peyton and team did not play well yesterday; the Bears might have been good, but if the Colts had been playing to their usual standards it would have been an extremely close game. Peyton just didn't look like his heart was in it, same with Dungy.
Unfortunately, my DH is a Broncos fan - I guess that's what I get for marrying a Colorado boy. We'll see how that game goes tonight.

Just me thinking out aloud, but they should try to get Brady Quinn. The guy can throw and just warms the bench right now. Plus I have a big crush on BQ and would love to just see him play! And heck anyone that can throw the ball can connect with Randy Moss!

It wouldn't sadden or surprise me if they don't work Cassell too much. Nobody has heard of this guy for a reason, ya know? But I simply got him so you all wouldn't. LOL

SOOO glad for the season to start again! My Boys did awesome!

But good grief - I could not have done worse on the fantasy if I'd been trying to lose!

Reds fan here. Ya can't win em all :p

I don't like to see anyone get hurt. Now, I can't say I'm a Pats fan, but if they're good, like everyone in here as said, they'll be just fine.

The team I matched up against in my other league this week did the same thing Julie. Snagged Cassell right up. Her team is STACKED though. Like, ridiculously. I didn't have a snowball's chance in HECK against her, lol.

I did manage to go ahead and pick up Matt Ryan in that league, from Atlanta. Of course, I had benched Matt Schaub against Pit in favor of Vince Young, and then Young went out wtih a knee sprain. Didn't exactly help me out, lol.

I don't think the Pats can pick up Brady Quinn. The Browns signed him for a long term contract and will unlikely let him go. I think he would be good though.

I was impressed with Matt Ryan yesterday. It's not usual for a rookie QB to start a game, let alone do well. I'm happy for Atlanta after the HUGE fiasco with Michael Vick...

What I think is so great is all the upsets yesterday.......CONGRATS to all the underdogs that came out on top yesterday!!!! I am by no means a Brett Farve fan (not in a million years actually!!!) but I think he did really great yesterday as did Kyle Orton!!! I don't know who else won but from what I heard on the news there were a lot of them that we NOT supposed to win that did....this is why I love this game!!!!!

I know :( Poor Brady stuck on the bench when he is better than so many QBs out there. You know, my local boy, Joey Harrington, was released recently. I doubt the Pats would want him but that would be exciting for him to be on a decent team with a chance. Joey's high school coach is my son's coach now. :)
