Lemme just say, If Sarah Palin debates remotely any way near how she speaks, then Joe Biden better be prepared and on his toes. I am still pretty undecided as far as this years election but wow she's a great speaker.

(also..wow Huckabee is an amazing speaker..If he's not president w/in the next 8 years then America has a problem lol)

She is a great speaker. They fact checked her speech last night, and that article was interesting. LOL

I absolutely loved her last night! She's a breath of fresh air in a very stuffy political room (on BOTH sides), and she was amazing to watch. She took a speech written by someone else and made it her own, and engaged the cameras (which so few have seemed to do that we've been watching) and made it about her.

It will be interesting to see how she performs against Biden in the debates. But I'm also thankful that I don't rely on speeches/debates to determine whom I'm going to vote for...which, sadly, so many do (both ways).

I think her speech was great.

I love Mike Huckabee, I hope that he does run again. He would have been my choice handsdown.

She was amazing last night!! I absolutely loved her and felt totally inspired by her speech!! I already knew which way I was voting, but this really helped seal the deal for me!!

And I just LOVE Mike Huckabee. I was really hoping that he could have gotten the nomination this time. I really hope that he is president in the next 8 years!! He's awesome!!

She did a fantastic job! I was so excited to hear her! Giuliani did a great job too - very entertaining! LOL

I actually watched it TWICE I loved it so much!!!! Huckabee was hands down AMAZING and I really liked Rudy too!!!

Oh I LOVE Mike Huckabee...I wish he'd gotten the nomination but if we can't have him I'm glad we got Sarah Palin!! She was sooo fabulous...and I have to chuckle at the criticism of her speech that some of the democrats they interviewed after her speech have come up with...(i think they might just be a little worried after last night :) )

Love her!

It kills me that they keep pointing out that she didn't write the speech...none of them write their own speeches for goodness sakes

Nobody's commented on Fred Thompson's speech (from Tuesday) but his recount of McCain's POW experience was just tearjerking. It doesn't matter what your political leanings are, that is an amazing story and I can't imagine anyone not respecting McCain's military service after hearing that.

It certainly was, Julie. But it was also sad listening to Fred - and I'm hoping he just had a cold, but he seemed to be really struggling through the first half of that speech.

Oh Julie, I am so glad you brought that up....I though Fred was great too and you are so right about the respect thing...I remember when I first heard about his experience years ago and thought " WOW, if you survived that you can pretty much do anything"

I missed it again.. but I just wanted to say that it makes me giggle to hear the difference btwn the repub reactions & the dem reactions. I received several emails today (from friends who are also voting dem this election) that were offended by parts of her speech (something to do with putting down obama's community work? again I did not see it so I am not really sure what was said). I am glad that you guys enjoyed it... I just wish I'd stop missing these dang things so I could form my own lil opinions on what is going on (or.. maybe I'm glad I'm missing them, I'm tired of mudslinging).

hahaha. Most of the mamas on the cloth diapering board that I belong to are Democrats too, some of them aren't impressed with her. Honestly, though, quite a few of them were, just because she knocked it out of the park! :p

I loved her speech! She is an amazing woman!
I missed Fred's the other night though. :( I wish I could have seen it! I think Mike H. has a really good chance if he runs again.

Catch it here on Youtube, Lauren.

I'm sure some Dems are offended by parts the same way that Repub. were offended by Obama's (and I never even listened to Biden's LOL). It's the way of politics.

Here, here! Palin really packs a PUNCH when it comes to speeches!!!!

PS. ITA, Mike Huckabee is a GREAT speaker! I lived in Arkansas for 12 yrs and being military I met him several times and heard him speak at A LOT of functions!

thanks darcy..

I'd be a happy camper if we did away with all the "offending" material and just stuck to the issues.. but alas, I apparently live in a dream world. I'll watch it later.

A few years ago there was a movie made about McCain's POW experience (no, not Hanoi Hilton, although that obviously has a character in it that is him also) - it was nominated for a new Emmys, so it was made for one of the cable channels. I think it might have been called Faith of my Father, after his book. Anyway, my DH and I went to the premiere of this movie in Scottsdale and McCain was there, as were the stars of the movie. That movie was no where near as moving as Thompson's speech. (I'm sure it's on youtube somewhere.)

Also, another little fun fact...a few years ago my DH and I ended up with John McCain's Phoenix Suns tickets and we sat in his seats right on the floor. Now THAT was a very cool experience (even got on TV when a player fell on the guy next to me ;) ).

(But don't think we know McCain or anything...my DH worked with a woman who's DH was McCain's chief of staff at the time.)

100% Ditto!

AS the wife of a military man and a vet myself it really is just a no-brainer to me that McCain is the only choice come election day. Obama just doesn't get the military thing and I'd hate to see what happened when Clinton came into office and the troops get pulled an another 9/11 type of thing happen again.

You took the words right out of my mouth.........

Missed it beating up my puter last night.

It really is a MUST see TV if ever there was one....as I said I watched it twice it was so good. I highly recommend you see it either on You Tube or go to Fox News .com, I am sure it is there as well

I can tell you guys being in Alaska, she's a great govener and they really love her here. Wasillia, where she's from is small town America, really pretty out there and I've only heard really good things about her from people that have been life long Alaskans.

I few years ago before I moved to Alaska, I had to go to a class and we had a retired Lt. Col that was in the same POW camp with John McCain come and speak, this man was there for 7 and a half years and its such a sad story, everyone was crying by the time he was done talking. Very moving that they all managed to stay and get out of there along. If you ever get a chance to hear a Hanoi POW speak, do it.

aww see I would have commented on Thompson's speech, had I heard it...I'm familiar with Mccain's military bg. I'll have to look up his speech online.

I liked her too, and I'm a staunch democrat. Granted, I take issue with nearly everything everything she stands for (especially when it comes to social issues), but she is definitely articulate, professional, and impressive in many ways.

My only criticism of her speech concerns her (and Guilianni, too) insulting and discounting Obama's experience as a community organizer. He helped a lot of people during that time in Chicago by acting as a liaison between the city government and the poor people who have no voice, by improving living conditions in housing projects, and by starting community centers to help disadvantaged kids. I just felt that the Republicans belittled that, and the people Obama served, with those comments last night.

I do think McCain did well in choosing her though. She's very likeable.
