Feeling a bit down!

I received my birthday persent in the mail today for a program that I wanted. It was an upgrade version and Adobe had advertised that you could upgrade from Elements 6.0 Well I ordered the software from Academic Superstore because I got it for $100 cheaper but when I went to put it in just now it says I can't upgrade from Elements 6.0:thumbdown: So now I am goin to have to pay $100 more dollars for the non upgrade version and a 15% restocking fee on the software. I didn't even install it on my computer I just needed the serial number but it doesn't matter.

I will say that Academic Superstore was great and the dude that helped me was so nice but it just stinks really bad. This is usually always my luck to. When I try saving a buck or 2 it always ends up costing me double.

Just a reminder to always read the fine print! Oh yeah and I get to pay the shipping also to send it back and wait another week probably to finally get it. Happy Birthday to me!

hmm, wonder why it wouldn't work if Adobe says it will?

was it for PS CS3? when I tried to install from the trial with the serial number it would not work. I had to put in the CD. So I wonder if it would work if you put in the disk? But then I don't know if you could return it.

Yes that's the one it is. It takes the serial number from the trial version but then you have to put in the serial number from your old product since it is an upgrade and Elements 6.0 is not one of the options. Academic Superstore is going to take it back but since I took the plastic wrap off I now get to pay 30 more dollars. That is some expensive plastic!
 
I was goung to do the same thing but I'm upgrading from pse 5.0 ... I e-mailed academic superstore to see if it would work before I order it, but no response yet. Your post may have saved me... that stinks for you though. :thumbdown: Hope it gets sorted out.

Thanks about the new Avi and let me save you a lot of headache and money. The one from Academic Superstore will not upgrade from Elements. It has to be an earlier version of CS or Photoshop 7 was the only options I got. You can get the full version at AS though for $297 where as Adobe will charge you $597.

I tried contacting Adobe about it to see if they could help me and they said they sure could for $597. :thumbdown: No thanks I can't afford that much help! LOL

Yuck! I need to get CS3 and the cost is keeping me from doing it... in another couple of months we can qualify for the academic discount!
 
Aww man, what a bummer. I'm sorry that happened to you. It's an annoying trait to some people, but I always try to see the silver lining in bad situations... so, thankfully they're willing to take the wrong software back. Sucks that you have to pay the fees, but at least it's not a total loss... right? Hugs... feel better!
 
Thanks for the belated birthday ladies and you are so right Laura! I was so thrilled they would take it back and that DH didn't freak out when I told him it was going to cost about $130 more than planned! Gotta love a man who just smiles when he is loosing money! :thumbup:
 
Oh that is awful :( ((hugs)) Sorry that you had that bad news. So, what birthday gift are you going to get now? Happy belated birthday, too! :)

It's not true! That is the same item # and product number that I ordered and I just called them on the phone to double check and the guy told me that it will not upgrade from Elements products becasue it's diff. than CS3.

The only ones you can upgrade from is Photoshop 7 or earlier version of CS.

You can buy the full version from them though for $297 which sure beats adobe at $597. That's what I am doing. They are taking back the upgrade I ordered and charging me the diffrence and shipping out the full version.

I thought it looked to good to be true! I am still happy that I am getting at a better price than retail though because I wouldn't be able to get it at $600
