DH just came home with a kitten!!!!! :cursing:

This is the man who didn't want to pay $300 for our last cat's med bills and we ended up giving the cat to the vet.

I like cats, I do. But I didn't want a pet. On the one hand, I do think it's good for kids to grow up with a pet. and DS is over the moon with excitement and happiness.

But on the other hand -- I don't want a pet. And I certainly wasn't expecting to become a cat owner today.

DH just cannot say NO to people. :cursing::cursing::cursing::cursing: I don't even know the full story of how he came to get this cat b/c he is avoiding me.

It (have no clue if it's male or female) is cuuuuuuuute though. It's hiding. Maybe I can get a pic later.

(omg, thought in my head . . . ooooh, now I can scrap with pet kits LOL)

Hugs ... I would feel the same way ... and I would have the same side thought about scrapping too.

Show us your new little cutie!

If I was in your shoes I would be frustrated too...I'm sorry. BUT...I do have 3 kitty's and kitten's are just soooo much fun. LOL Your kids will love it. And I agree with Paula...Libby's new kit would be perfect. ;)

well we lost the cat already. it's somewhere in the house . . . but where? it's small. there are too many places for a little kitten to hide. i think i will pretend it never existed.

hahaahah poor kitty.

cats are annoying. I wish mine was hairless :glare:

aaaaahhahahahahahahahaha!!! You crack me up Mimi!! Seriously, though. I am NOT a cat person so you'll get no sympathy from me. lol
I think anyone who chooses a pet that ignores their owners on a moment-by-moment basis is a masochist! lol

Im not a cat person either. I think they are just the CUTEST thing but I don't think I would want one myself. I love puppies though. I wish we had a bigger place. I would so get one in a heart beat! My aunt just came from florida to visit last month and had these adorable tiny tiny chiuahuas seriouslyt hey were like the size of you palms together full grown they said. Noah would eat that poor thing for breakfast though LOL

ok, I found the kitten. but then it went into hiding again.

the kids would love a puppy. but if DH came home with a dog I would seriously flip out. i am not a dog person.

now if I could just get Henry to stop stalking the cat and let it get used to its new surroundings . . .

the thought of dealing with cat hair makes me want to :crying:. and furballs . . .

it is soo tiny

gosh, how much does it cost to spay/neuter?

Oh. My. Word. Me too!!! We have 2 cats and it's ridiculous how much hair is shed and how many hairballs are coughed up. No, it's not ridiculous, it's GROSS!!! I do love them though - they're so stinking CUTE!! I think that's what saves them!!

LOL, you crack me up, Mimi!! I love my cat but was very unlucky: all my first 3 died before their first b'day... This one seems to be stronger and/or smarter! LOL Can't wait to see pix!

Aw, but kitties are furry, and purry, and fluffy, and lovey (well, when they wanna be), and playful....you'll be in love in NO time flat.

My advice is to draw up a contract right now :p for your DH to sign that he will not complain when kitty needs maintenance!

I can't wait to see your kitty layouts, Libby's The Cat's Pajamas is a fantastic kit!

Being a total animal person, I of course have to say, Awwwwwwww! However, as an animal lover I must say, not being willing to pay for the care your animal needs is not cool. So I'd be having the talk with hubby about that before agreeing to let the kitten stay. Hubby has to be willing to accept the fact that cute and fuzzy li'l fluffballs that we get on a whim will cost us money at some point.

Now let's see some pics!

can't wait to se kitty pics...and we are SUCKERS too....we have 2 big kitties {they are almost 5} and we have 3 kittens {long story} still working on finding them homes but we get so attached to them! and then don't want to let them go!!! and I can 2nd the cat hair thing...I too wish mine were hairless:p

Aww, I wish we could get a kitten again! We already have 2 cats 2 dogs. Teach the kids how to brush them so they won't shed as much, but you know there's no way to stop it.

I took our puppies to the SPCA, they charged $50 for spaying. For cats I think it's cheaper b/c they're smaller. GL with the kitty!

I don't envy you, Meems.

Just 'cause God loves me so much, He made me mildly allergic and my BF moderately allergic to cats, so we'll never have any! Yeah! I just don't get cats. I want a big dumb loyal pet, kwim?

Which is why BF and I are dog people.

Sure, babies and kittens and puppies are cute, but you have to POTTY TRAIN them! Yuck. If I could work it out, I wouldn't allow any living creature to live in my house until it was able to go in the toilet on its own without incident. :p

Yeah, I should mention that *part* of my reason for not liking cats is that I am horribly ridiculously obnoxiously allergic to the little suckers. Seriously, I'm a total mess if I get within breathing distance of a cat. Ugh.
But still.... even if I weren't allergice, I still wouldn't like them that much.

With that being said, kittens are very cute little things. Those tiny little kitty faces are just very sweet.

oh I agree. I'm still a bit haunted by our giving up Buddy, who was the best cat.

I'm wondering if DD will be allergic though. She's already seems to have allergies. It would crush DS though if we had to get rid of the cat. he's in love.

apparently the kitten has been named Beauty. Not my fave name though. I was pushing for Molly or Lucy. I guess we should first find out if it's a she or he.

I'm still very puzzled as to why the original owners of the cat are giving it up. It's a kitten so they couldn't have had it very long. DH says he doesn't know. Very irritating how he fails to get key info (a frequent occurence).

I'm glad to hear spaying/neutering is not too costly.

i'm having awful thought.

what if previous owners gave up kitten b/c they couldn't house train her?

think positive thoughts.....maybe they just gave kitty up becuase they weren't going to be able to give it enough love and attention and wanted to make sure it got that from somebody else...hope your DD is not allergic

OMG Meems...You made me spit my soda on the screen...

You shouldn't have to potty train them like you do a dog. Just let her/him know where the litter box is and that's usually all it takes. If it were ever a shelter kitty it should be familiar with the box, but hopefully the previous owner taught it all that.

In most cases the kittens mother teaches it to use a litter box, it usually comes pretty natural to them, you just have to show them where it is.

Aww...I love kitties.

It's funny though...going up we only ever had dogs....now three out of the four of us kids have cats:huh:

Hubby & I have had 4 cats over the last 14yrs and I can safely say that we will NOT be getting anymore. Hubby wants more, but he isn't the one the wake in the early morning for cuddles/to be let out/to be fed. I'm tired!!

But there is this cute kitten at the vet......

I nearly bought a kittie the other day, she was so cute. I love cats but DF is allergic so we arent allowed any. Well he did say that I could have one if I really really want but thats not fair for him.

oh I hope so. I have shown her 2x but she still hasn't gone.

We have some friends over. I'm a tad jealous b/c the kitten def prefers DH's friend. It actually took a little nap next to him. i think the rest of us are trying too hard to win kitty over.

I feel sorry for it. It is being stalked by 3 children.

Must get kitty claw clippers. Very sharp little claws.

I think it is adjusting.

On plus side, kitty is making DD forget her inhibitions. She actually talked to DH's friend. Something she never does.

I know what you mean! lol! My hubby can't say no to ANYONE! it's horrible sometimes!

I would be excited about scrapping pets too though! lol!
