Need Help Quick!!!

I am using a trial version of CS3. I know how to load a selection (Ctrl + clicking on the item in the layers palette)

My question is how do you unload the thing when you are done. In PSE 6 you just mashed Esc. Not working with CS3

I am ready to pull my hair out. I have tried everything I know to do!!

ummm ctr + d i think deselects anything... well in cs2 anyways

It is free for 30 days. Then $299 after that is upgrading from Elements. I think they have a teachers discount for it out there for $199. Haven't got around to researching that yet!!! I am loving it so far though!!
