Sometime living in AZ is NOT a good thing

Look at the picture my mom took on Sunday after lunch:

This thermometer was out by the pool .... we couldn't even walk on the deck to get into the pool. We had to wait till about 4pm before it cooled off enough to swim. The pool has no shade - no trees, nothing. :(

I hear ya Amber! That is why I take off for the summer! Although I don't think I have ever seen a reading like that around our house.

Way too hot for me. My dh has always wanted to move to Az. I'm not up for the heat. I think I'd be really witchy and everyone would want me to melt.

At least you have a pool, but I assume at that temperature the water isn't exactly cold anymore.

I feel your pain!! I live in Tucson. We have a swamp cooler in our house and not AC. Sadly, in our house the coolest it gets is 81 degrees. :(

We lived in Tucson for almost five years. And, this is a big part of why we left. I just couldn't take the heat! I feel for ya'!

One more reason to love this on horse town I live in!! Right now, it's only 68 degrees! LOL

I like it hot, but not this hot! Maybe all we AZ girls should get together somewhere air-conditioned to scrap together!

REALLY!?? I've never heard of anyone not having AC in AZ!

Yup. The old apartments around here (built in the 70s) have swamp coolers unless the property owners were nice enough to install AC. Yuck. I'm sweating in my house.

Oooh! Oooh!! I was just there!! I'm burnt to a crisp! hahahaha! I'm finally up in the mountians of Colorado now where it is soooo nice and cool! :)

ahhh...those were the days. i moved to colorado from phoenix for that very reason 2 years ago. this mexican couldn't deal.

I am a born and bred Arizona Desert Girl. Summers do suck but from Sept to May is THE BEST weather. I will sweat for three months to have the rest of the year so nice.

I cannot imagine living in snow or lugging around coats or wearing boots. That would be bizarre. My toes are claustrophobic and must be in flip flops year round. :)

haha ya know that is very true!!! We are one of the few states where we can wear flip flops on Christmas Day!!!

What is a swamp cooler Megan?

Hahaha! Swamp coolers are also known as avaporative cooling. It takes the air and evaporates water into it and in the process cools the air (since evaporation requires energy input). The problem is that if it is at all humid (which it is right now since the monsoon season has started) it doesn't work adn just makes it even more muggy and miserable. Plus, if the temp is 95+ it can't cool it more than 15 degrees. Well, it has been 100-110 here so my house is very warm and muggy. Blech. I had never heard of swamp coolers until I moved to AZ.
