Help! It won't stop asking me to register PS!!

I just "moved in" to my DH's computer and had to install Photoshop and Illustrator. I went ahead and registered it (even though I've previously done it on my laptop). But EVERY time it starts up it pops up the registration screen. :blink: So, I've now registered it 4 times and it doesn't stop it from asking the next time I start up PS or Illustrator. And pressing the "don't register" doesn't help either, so I'm at wits end. :cursing: Anyone know how to turn that off? I know it's minor, but I just hate that it keeps happening!
 
What version of PS do you have? I know in CS2, you have to deactivate it on one computer before activating it on another...could that be the problem?
 
I am going to take a shot in the dark and guess you are using CS2 and Vista... CS2 is not compatible with Vista, and that is one of it's many quirks... No way to fix it as far as I know, I have been dealing with it since October.
 
CS2 is what I have. I looked at the paperwork and it says I can have it on 2 computers. ?? It keeps accepting my registration. I get the email saying I can collect my free bonus for registering and everything. It just won't stop popping up. ?? How would I deactivate it on my laptop? I want it on their too.

YES!! I am. This desktop is a Vista (which I've never used before) and my laptop is XP. I wonder if that is it. So, you get the registration screen each time too? I haven't noticed any other problems in PS yet.
 
Interesting about CS2 and vista. The registration keeps popping up for me too, but it goes away when I hit "don't register".
 
Happens to me everytime for Illustrator CS2, but not for Photoshop CS2. I am on Vista. My problem is that it is random on whether registering is good enough -- it will let me register and then tell me that something is wrong and closes down automatically. Ugh!!

I have done an online search about it and it appears to be a conflict with Vista (which is what I have on this computer). And... it sounds like Adobe has no plans to address it. I guess they expect you to upgrade. :( I dunno. I just figured there would be a patch or something but there doesn't appear to be.
 
I didn't figure out how to do the thing that Lynnette suggested... maybe my teenage son will help me figure it out. He's more familiar with Vista than I am.

But to add to the weirdness, I thought I'd mention that my PS is CS2, but my Illustrator is actually CS3 (bought it just this year in March) and both have this problem. So upgrading isn't going to fix it either. Sigh...

At least I know I'm in good company! LOL But I'll try Lynnette's idea later, because it's really driving me bonkers. I know it's just a click to press the x to close it, but darn it, I don't want to have to do that! :p (can you tell I'm a whiny girl when I'm sick with a cold... LOL)
 
Well at least yours runs after you reegister. I have no warning (or any indications) of when my Illustrator will open for me. Usually a reboot will work, but not always. I hate to reboot and close all my programs, etc. What a freakin' PITA.
 
Hey Julie...

THere is a really simple fix for this.

Right click photoshop cs2 in your start menu and choose "run as administrator" - PS should start up with the register me screen, choose do not register, etc and let it finish loading then when you close and reopen, it should go away :)

I had tried this, didnt work for me :(
 
BTW Julie, you ARE allowed to run PS & Illust. on two computers. They allow for two activations. I am running my entire CS3 suite on both my laptop and desktop and they both run Vista and are both working fine.

Glad you got it fixed with Robin's tip.

Oh....and I heard that Adobe is working on CS4....so if you have CS2, you should probably hold off on upgrading until CS4 is out. Not sure when that is going to be.....but it is being estimated on the blogs and such as sometime between October 2008-April 2009. Big window, I know....but it is coming....and I think it is going to focus on compatibility issues with Vista.
