Does anyone have a scrapping budget?

I keep saying I'm going to put myself on a budget...which includes a budget for scrapping...So tell me do you have a budget and more importantly do you stick to it? I have to admit that I'm not good with budgeting anything...

i need to come up with one. cause i am going broke. and i haven't even bought anything this week yet!
i think $20 a week is reasonable. that's $80 a month, right? it sounds good to me. for someone else, it could be too much, or too little.

Yea I scrape by on 15-20 a week...but...it's usually closer to 40...because I usually accidentally spend another 20 in between...hey...other girls can have their shoes and designer clothes and such...me? The only designer names I know are digiscrap designers. Louis Vui-who?

I try not to spen over $30 a month. I usually do pretty good and actually spend less than that, lol.

I have a monthly budget that I stick to. I keep track of everything using Excel. I actually really like it because it allows me to save up for more expensive items (software, actions). For me it's really meant guilt-free shopping.

NSD was the first shopping I'd done in weeks and weeks and weeks and even then I spent less than 20 bucks...I'm such a picky shopper and really think about my purchases. I don't really have a scrap budget but I feel bad if I spend too much.

I *try* and not spend more than $50 every two weeks...So 100 a month...I don't always acheive goal.

I'm the same way about picking the kits i buy. I try to choose ones i know i'll use more than once. And i tend to stick with the same designers, i.e. here, lol. I don't usually go anywhere else except for occasionally Shabby Miss Jenn.

yeah, I have a budget, but it's not one I like ... $0.
Once I start getting my paychecks regularly, it will probably be about $10-20/weekly.

I'm pretty picky about what I buy as well. Plus, I feel like I need to use most of what I buy before buying more. I think that's the biggest advice I would give--use what you buy! Otherwise it's pointless. :) Although it is all pretty!

anyway, I would say I maybe spend 10-15 a month, maybe. I'm lucky enough to be on some great creative teams that help me out there!

I have $100 a month, but that has to cover books, yarn, music & the occasional latte as well. Some months I spend $75 on digi stuff, some months I spend $90 on books. Mostly I stick to about $30 on digi per month.

no budget here... and i am such an impulse buyer which is not good at all! i would say i spend about $20-30 a month... eek!!!

ooo - a budget - ya - I should have one - but...... I am a crazy mad quilter and that is one EXPENSIVE hobby - like 200 a quilt 9 to 10 dollars a yard so this is WAY cheaper ~ and I scrap so much now that I don't quilt as much - so I think that in the long run we are saving money - at least that is what I am telling my husband -
I don't really track how much I spend, but I have the designers that I LOVE and I tend to buy most of what they come out with - maybe 150 a month - I try and stalk the sales

I try to have a budget and some weeks are better than others. Right now though, I'm just trying to use what I have... so for me that means lots of scrapping, not less shopping... LOL!

Yup I do. 1. jeff doesn't get why i need to buy things like scrap stuff, and 2. we just have no money. so it can be months before I buy anything and when i do it's like under 20 bucks.

Nope I don't and that's OK because I am such a tight wad that I am my own Best Friend (or worst enemy) however you want to look at it. :D

I just checked my paypal records and

In 2006 (I started using paypal in Mar, so from Mar to Dec) I spent $152.45.
In 2007 I spent $235.60.
And so far this year I have spent $100.98.

I have to REALLY love something to buy it and I weigh each purchase heavily. I will say that since I have started participating here at SSD and earning a 40% off coupon I do spend a little more freely, but just a little ;) :D

Usually it's $30 a month. During the winter, sometimes it's less. Right now, I'm a little freer than that since Jeff is working lots of hours.

b-b-b-b--what?

I *should* be on a budget for everything.

I've gotten pickier about buying stuff and I rarely rarely rarely buy any digi stuff at full price.

I'm really trying to impress on myself that I am not very good at using what I buy and to not just buy stuff 'cuz it's pretty.

I *try* to limit myself to about $20/month. But I don't know how well I do with that since i don't actually keep track . . . maybe I need to investigate using a spreadsheet . . .

i dont need a budget. i have a fantastic (or not so fantastic really) sense of guilt that stops me buying more than one new thing a week. Theres so much more that i would love to buy, but i feel so guilty if i overspend that it just isnt worth it! lol plus only buying one thing a week means i do actually use everything i buy.

I don't have a budget per se, but I probably spend no more than $30-$40 a month. Guilt works on me as well, lol. But I do try to get things I can get a lot of use out of and get them on sale as well. It's hard getting past not getting something just because it's so darned pretty, but you have to weigh the pros and cons in the end.

*admits* I get a lot of kits cuz they're pretty :( Lol. it's ok right now though...I think of it as stocking up for the winter. And I have a baby and don't get out as often as I'd like. Digi shopping is as close to shopping as I get. And I do use my kits so it's good. :) I do both sig tags and scrapping. Annndd...one day when I'm broke...no prob...I'm stocked up. Kinda taking advantage of the fat check padding the Army gives us for sticking us in Alaska. They do it because as they see it...we're "isolated" and considered "overseas" Living in Fairbanks, Alaska (the experience itself) plus extra cash for it? Win win situation! Not always a fan of the Army paychecks...but we budget everything else well...though since Alaska, to hear me talk you'd think...what budget?

I have a budget for my personal spending - but that doesn't necessarily all go to scrapping. I also like to knit and sadly not with cheap yarn LOL - so I sometimes spend on yarn, sometimes digi kits, sometimes on other things entirely. I - like everyone else is seems - have been trying to really evaluate my purchases a bit more closely lately but admittedly I've worked my way into a corner where nothing inspires me better than new product. I really need to work on that and try to find my inspiration in the galleries or in mags or something because I own SO MUCH stuff there really is little I "need" at this point. What I spend on digi differs radically month to month depending on sales (I typically only buy on sale). I tend to spend big on NSD and on black friday. In between I try to keep it lower. It fluctuates depending on what CTs I'm on as well and how prolific the designers are....lots of factors really.

I don't have a shopping budget unfortunately...

I always say I won't shop as much...then I see this...and I must have this... and it's on sale....

So I end up still spending.

NSD was the first time I had gone shopping in awhile as well. It's mostly because my CT's keep me busy and if I buy a bunch of other stuff, it tends to sit in a folder for a long time unused. So, I have cut back on my shopping a ton in the last year or so.

I don't have a budget per se, but I do try to be more aware of what I'm buying and only buy if I know I'll use something. This year, I've done way better about doing that especially since I almost only scrap with stuff from my CTs. So whatever I buy, typically doesn't get used.

My first big splurge since start of this year was NSD - and even then I didnt spend as much as I used to. Being part of great CTs really help a ton ;). I also noticed I like my CT pages better than those I scrap with bought kits so I dont spend that much anymore :D I do however spend for printing layouts and acquiring hybrid stuff (which i might add can be called like hoarding,LOL)

I try to keep within my budget but most of my money is spent on ribbons, lace, buttons, chipboard, brads, cardstock etc. as I'm hybrid/traditional. Traditional scrapping products are expensive over here and most of the time it's cheaper to buy from the States and pay the shipping costs to the UK. The traditional products take up a massive proportion of my budget but I think to myself that I haven't got kids to think about, or a mortgage or debt so my spending money is mine, I worked hard to get it and I enjoy spending it

Usually my budget is whatever I have in my PayPal account from designing, but in March I got a Rebel XT and even though I did pay for it in cash, I still felt like I had to pay back my husband for it since it was $600 we didn't really need to spend. I still have $95 left to pay it off so I haven't really bought anything lately except on NSD I spent $45. I did just get paid, but I'm going to wait until Wednesday to see if I can get a Wii Fit. If I can't, I might just "pay off" my camera then I am free to buy whatever I want!

I spend a small fraction on what I blew on paper scrapping stuff, so I don't feel the need to put myself on a budget just yet. I think the most I've spent lately was stocking up on chipboard albums here. I bought one of everything to see which shapes I liked working with best. Of course, they've gone and added some more really cute ones that I *have to* have. LOL

My digi-shopping money comes from birthday money and "buy-yourself-something" cash from my parents. I tend to put it into my account and make it last all year, so I can't go overboard or I'll run out. I budget $30 a month, and I'm usually within a few dollars of that. I seem to buy a lot early in the month and then get very selective as the month goes on. The good thing about doing it this way is that I feel no guilt about what I do spend.

Things other than scrapping? I'm terrible at making a budget and sticking to it! Don't ask how much more is spent at the grocery store when I go vs. when DH goes. But that's food...we need food, right?
