Ok, I still...STILL...cannot get over that Chris Brown/David Archuleta performance.
Eww.

So I think Syesha's going home.
Cuz if she dont...the finale will be boring. No contest. DC will blow her away.

Cum on... you've got to have SKILLS to dance that badly!!! :D
but yeah, we all know who is the best in the compitition. I didn't think Archie's song was that horrendous... he'll be headlining on a disney cruise ship in no time... until he grows up... but you've gotta admit the kid can sing. He doesn't have performance skills like David C, of course.

I think that Randy and Simon were trying to...eh, dont really know if I want to use the word, STAGE...but I think they were trying to help along a David vs. David finale.
Simon LOVED DC...which is not questionable.
Randy LOVED DA...which is ridiculous considering he forgot the words TWICE in "With You".

I really didn't get it.
Syesha did better IMO.

all season long I felt like Randy, Simon and Paula were given some sort of directive to make sure that David A went to the finals

That's because they need someone who can sing whatever cheesy, inspirational song they come up with this year. :D

Yeah I'm an idiot. All week long Ive been a day ahead. I dont know what my problem is.

LOL

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMGGGGGGG! I AM SO HAPPY!!!!!!!!

I was actually in Bradenton this past Saturday and a lot of the local businesses had "Congratulations Syesha" signs up, but it did look like the Davids got more people to show up for theirs.

What really touched me was what her father said about her success giving him a reason not to turn back to his old ways. He sounded like he just had so much pride in her...

I have known for about 6 weeks now that it would be a david vs. david!! I think they are both incredibly talented but completely different personalities and sounds!! I think in the end though it will DC!! It's that bad boy in him I love!!

The very FIRST thing I said after finding out the results:

'OMG! My Cookie! It's Cookie & Archie! I wish I had my laptop! I bet Mandy is through the roof! I need to post at SSD!!'

BF's reaction:

Oh yeah after the show last night Blake Lewis was on the news talking about how he thought Idol screwed him over with LaST year's cheesy inspirational song (This is my now)..they wouldn't let him rearrange it AT ALL. Makes me a little nervous for our Cookie!

That's because they need someone who can sing whatever cheesy, inspirational song they come up with this year. :D

Yea but don't forget, it's better for DC to NOT win. DA would do better getting sign and stuck with AI. DC would be able to go off and do his own rock thing, like Daughtry.

Col, I was trying to explain that to my DH last night but he wasn't getting it, lol...I was like...how many of the winners do we hear from? Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jordin Sparks. We don't hear from Taylor Hicks or Reuben Studdard (although he did the song for this season's "going home" speil...that's ALL we've seen out of him in how many years). Who else is there, lol?

While TONS of singers have gotten their start from AI - Daughtry, Kellie Pickler, Katharine McPhee, Josh Gracin, Clay Aiken, Fantasia, Blake Lewis, Elliot Yamin...the list goes on...

And it works EXACTLY the same way for Canadian Idol, too - we hear from 1 or 2 of the winners, but most of the popular ones are the ones that didn't win!

Yea like I said yesterday, I'm not a fan of the show and I never watch it. But last year when Melinda Doolittle was in it (we were actually at her "coming home" segment when she went to Belmont University, cuz my sister's graduation was the next day) my Dad and sister brought up that line of thinking. We felt Melinda was the best one of the final 3 (I watched the last few episodes just to see what was going on and what my dad and sis were talking about), but she didn't make the final (Um.....I totally think Blake Lewis sucked too - shouldn't have made it to the top 3 let alone the final, but that's not good marketing :p). Granted she also hasn't done anything in the last year (that I know of), but at least she didn't get screwed into signing with AI. They OWN the winner for at least year, I think possibly more. So not worth it as a musician.

I always forget to buy Elliot Yamin's stuff. I need my sister to burn me a copy or two....

I really think that DC will do well with whatever they throw at him. He's shown himself to be quite versatile as a singer/musician. Normally, I'd agree that the sappy winner's song could be the undoing of certain contestants, but not DC.

As for Blake Lewis...he's a niche artist. It's much harder for him to take a song like that and make it work. Of course, I don't really care for Jordin's version of the song either, lol!

As for the success of those who haven't one due to not being part of the AI machine...so not true. Daughtry is signed to 19E and RCA is his label. You can't be more AI machine that that. I suspect he had more "control" over his album because he's also a songwriter. Most of the winners were not singer/songwriters.

I like your point Leila!
I also think it's every three years that you get a true seller - Year one (Kelly Clarkson) and four (Carrie Underwood) have done fantastic - if you take that logic, this is the year for a star. Personally, I think David Archuletta is going to do well in the same vein as Clay Aiken and John Mayer. But David Cook has a broader appeal and has more originality. I think that while he hasn't done really any songwriting, he has the skills to do so, given his ability to take songs and create a new sound to it. I also think he's his own man and is not afraid to voice his own opinion but is gracious enough to listen to others' opinions. David Archuletta will be a slave to the machine, so to speak, and I'm afraid there will be constant battles between his father and the record label/producers that will overshadow any success he has - I don't believe any of the prior Idol winners have had the reported interference and mild "scandals" that David A. has had. Regardless of who wins Idol next week, I think David Cook will emerge victorious on the charts, especially in the long run.
