So me and Amy are trying to figure out what songs David's gonna sing tonight.
This is what we have so far.

Simon has picked Roberta Flack's "First Time Ever I Saw Your Face". It's been rumored that he might use THIS cover.

He's picked for himself Collective Soul's "The World I Know", which I LOVE!

The producers pick is still being rumored. They're saying American Woman but they are also saying they're hearing it has to be a reprise from a song earlier in the season. Which would be a total waste because David could totally ROCK American Woman.

David is going to do sooooooooo good on First Time Ever I Saw Your Face. I was worried at first when Mandy told me that this weekend, but the more I think about it the more I know he will be amazing!

Here's what I know so far...

David Cook
Simon Cowell chose: “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” by Roberta Flack
David chose: “The World I Know” by Collective Soul
The producers chose: undetermined

Syesha Mercado
Randy Jackson chose: “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys
Syesha Chose: undetermined
The producers chose: undetermined

David Archuleta
Paula Abdul chose: “And So It Goes” by Billy Joel
David chose: “With You” by Chris Brown
The producers chose: “Longer” by Dan Fogelberg

David chose: “With You” by Chris Brown

OMG, you are not serious right? BWahahahahah!
He's gonna slaughter that. I cannot fathom David Archuletta singing about his Boo.
ROFL!

Archie choosing a Chris Brown song now that Daddy's not allowed at rehearsals just proves to me that it's been Daddy picking his songs all season. This song is definitely more contemporary and age appropriate than some of the clunkers he's sung in the past weeks (sung well, mind you...but they were clunkers.).

I liked that arrangement of The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, but I'd really like to see DC do his own arrangement.

Don't forget that Daddy A wanted David to put Sean Kingston's "Beautiful Girls" lyrics into the Stand By Me he did last week. Thats a VERY contemporary song. Too bad David actually did it...pissed the producers off big time. LOL

yep and it cost idol some $$$ b/c they didn't have rights to use that song.

I LOVE Collective Soul..they are a hometown band (where I used to live..like 30 mins away lol)

True, but I still think Daddy picked the initial song. I'll grant that Stand By Me is a classic, but I personally don't know a single 17 year old (Wait, I don't know any 17 year olds...) who would choose that song (or Love Me Tender) when given 500 songs that shaped rock music to choose from, yk?

Love them too.....I was at a pub one night (about 8 years ago) and my name was called for tickets to one of those private small venue concerts they do in Canada (sponsored by Molson Canadian Beer).....appparently I was too drunk and didn't hear my name...still mad at myself for that LOL!
I did end up seeing them in concert....it was great!

Whoops! LOL

I agree with you there! I did like the way he did "Love Me Tender" though. He made it sound so different (but still good).

Oh, and while we are talking about David A's dad... I was telling my DH the other day that his dad seems a little controlling or something. Maybe a little overbearing (making him change the lyrics to the song... I mean, what made him think HE had the right to change the rules??).

Anyways, I'm worried that if DA wins the competition, Daddy will say "I'm his manager" and make poor decisions for David. That and steal his money... dunno though!

Looks like we're all agreed then. David A should lose. :D

LOL, now I didn't say thattttt.... haha! But I think for sure its going to be between the Davids (kinda hoping its DC though! He's hot!!). DA seems to have hit it with the tweens more. I could see him going on tour with Hannah Montana if he doesn't get an older fan base.

I think David C would have a better career NOT winning though...Look at Daughtry (or Katharine lol--hell even Kellie P) vs Taylor Hicks...

Ahhh, but look at Carrie Underwood.

I think David A will be a fresher version of Clay Aiken. I just cant see David A doing anything worthy of the Billboard Top 40. LOL

The thing you have to remember here is that David Archuletta is a Mormon and many Mormon parents (especially Utah Mormon parents) are VERY "protective" of what songs their kids listen to. I am a Mormon, but I teach my children the principles we believe in and let them decide for themselves (minus R rated movies which they aren't allowed to watch). My sister (who lives in Utah) pretty much dictates what her kids will and will not watch/listen to/read.

I actually have a friend who has to listen to the songs AND read the lyrics before SHE decides if her kids can listen to it or not. They aren't allowed to choose for themselves and I have a feeling that Archie is in that same situation.

I do NOT think that Archie's dad will steal his money. He is just protecting his son and doing what he thinks is best for him.

Well damn you all for spoiling this for me even though the title had the word spoilers in it! :) This is going to be an interesting night for sure.

As far as David A's Daddy, he creeps me out..idk..he just does. Poor David looks like the type of kid that breaks under pressure and could probably be knocked around a time or two easily. David Cook on the other hand..well, I wouldn't mind him knocking me around a time or 28.

I totally agree. I feel like I'm watching a cheesy talent show every time he performs. It's not that he's not talented but really what would his CD even be like? I have a hard time imagining it based on all the songs he's done on the show.

As for his dad, it seems to be pretty well-known that he's a crazy stage parent. I just kind of wonder why it's really necessary to have 16 & 17 year olds in the competition at all. Give them a few years so they can mature and be on their own.

David C is gonna have an awesome career no matter what - if he wins or loses. WOOT can't wait for his cd. :) :) :)

I don't normally watch this show, but I did for a little last year cuz of Belinda Dolittle (she graduated from Belmont, which is where my sister graduated from as well). My sister in the music industry and she says that it's actually BETTER for the best one NOT to win.

When they win they pretty much sign over their entire lives (for several years) to the AI ppl. #'s 2 and 3 don't get stuck in that and can go sign wherever they want, which is why a lot of times they do better. Remember "From Justin to Kelly" or whatever that absurd movie was? They HAD to do it cuz AI said so. It sucks!

my guess is to get teenyboppers (or whatever there called) to watch the show

i like Collective Soul. I have no idea who Chris Brown is.

so maybe Syesha should just win?

I said that to Tony actually this morning, that I hoped "my guy" would get booted this week. He looked shocked that I said it, but like I told him, I felt he would have more freedom to do his own thing if he did. If he stays and wins, well, then he's sort of tied to AI and put out the songs THEY want him to do. So even though I'd be sad if DC got the boot this week, it would probably end up for the better. Like Chris Daughtry, he seriously is amazing.

Syesha's been updated..

Syesha Mercado

Randy Jackson chose: “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys
Syesha Chose: “Fever” by Peggy Lee
The producers chose: “Hit Me Up” by Gia Farrell

Cookie's was updated AND changed.
DANG!
TMZ (who apparently always reports the right songs and has the other David and Syesha's right) is reporting this!

David Cook -- "First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" by Roberta Flack. "Dare You to Move" by Switchfoot. "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" by Aerosmith.
