At what age did your kids seem to really start um, appreciating the opposite (or not) sex?

Zach briefly had a crush on a girl last year because she like Legos and Star Wars, but after about a month him and his best friend went back on to a strict "no, no girls ever, they are gross" stance. He doesn't even have any girls who are friends. (Though I will say in his defense its sort of a self-defense thing since girls in his classes are always going on about how cute he is... *sigh*)

Ryan, however, has been in love with Selena Gomez since he was 4.

I've told connor it's inappropriate for someone his age to be kissing/having a gf/and all that other stuff. He used to think amy pond (from doctor who) was super pretty and would meow when he saw her (that was .. odd :p lolol ).. but otherwise, no. He even tells gives his little friends speeches about how it's inappropriate and that they don't even know what they're talking about (Regarding "love" and garbage). He's been getting a lot of pressure from people at school to confess who he has a crush on or kiss xyz girl and he's getting annoyed by it.. but I'm glad he's sticking to what he knows is right. I've heard enough stories from him about other kids and their total lack of supervision (4th graders, making out alone in their bedrooms and touching each other etc. wth?) I've briefly explained this is how there are suddenly pregnant 6th graders :p He gets it :p

eta: as you know connor is almost 10.. but I forgot to say that.. so...... .edit :P

Yeah, see we've always been very firm about it not being appropriate at their age to have girlfriends, but I also sort of figured it was like a non-issue for boys. Then Zach had his sleepover and I realized, no, it's just Zach and his best friend, the other boy kept going on about girls and they all had a discussion about who was "dating" who in their class.

Oh and I guess not everyone knows the boys' ages. Zach is 9 (and a 1/4 as he will tell you, lol) Ryan will be 8 in January.

Well Lucas is 5 and has a crush on a girl in 2nd grade who he has basically grown up with.. he is constantly telling her that he is in love with her etc etc.. but I don't know to me it is pretty innocent. If he were to start being inappropriate about things then I would def tell him to stop.

Lily is in 5th grade and has no interest in boys what so ever, no crushes on celebrities either.

Brooke is 9, and over the years some of her best friends have been boys, so she's used to hanging out with them. She hasn't seemed to take an interest in any particular boy at the moment (or at least isn't telling me), but then she's not as worldly as some of the girls at her school. She's pretty innocent to a lot of things still.

I remember having my first crush at 4. My oldest told me about crushes starting at around age 7? ... and my youngest is 7 and he's never admitted to having any interest, lol.

Well, my girls have decided that when they grow up and get married that they(Caitlyn and Chloe themselves) will live in a house together, and their husbands can live together in a separate house. But some days they still want to marry daddy when they grow up

They're 8 and no interest in boys other than friends.

My oldest will be 10 this week. He has a few good female friends but hasn't really noticed them as girls yet. Neither of my younger kids (7 year old DS with autism and 4 year old DD) have had any crushes yet, either. I'm really liking it this way and hope I have a few years before it changes!

My 5 year old has been peeking at my hubby's sports magazines since he was 4 (like late 4 - almost 5). When I asked him about it (after a bunch of questions) I concluded he just likes looking at the girls because they're pretty. lol

My 8 year old (9 next month) has a girlfriend (he thinks) lol. A sweet little girl that he really likes. They are neighbors, so he's able to visit (and the grandparents love Connor, so they don't mind). Apparently she said she loved him the other day, lol.

Yeah - my boys are girl crazy apparently. Which fits with me - I was into boys in kindergarten, so I'm not too surprised, lol.

OMG, I actually busted out laughing when I read that.

Nicholas is 7, he has always had tons of friends that are girls, but he hasn't once said anything about crushes.

My 4th grader had a girlfriend last year... all that really meant was they texted and face timed each other outside of school. She was in his class, but I would never have known they liked each other based on their behavior at school. lol I found out from his teacher, and then he ended up telling me because he wanted to get her a little something for Valentine's day. I had no idea he had any interest in girls until I found out about her...

Cheyanne was at the end of her 4th grade year when she started to look at her long-time friend who was a boy a bit differently. They're still very good friends but you can tell they see each other a bit differently now.

I'd say that most of the girls in Cheyanne's class really started talking about boys a LOT in 6th grade. School dances started then and they would come home and say "Oooh, I danced with so-and-so" etc. Same age for most of the boys too. Cheyanne has her group of friends who play basketball from October through April and the boys and girls play on 2 different teams (a travel league and the school team) and the boys all travel to the girls' games to watch and vice versa... I love that they are a tight-knit group without feeling the need to "pair off." This year there are no "couples" and they're all great friends so I'm very good with that!

Since J could walk... haha.. he likes the ladies... :D Outside of Caroline, who is more like family... J's really big crush was Saanvi, a little girl in his YMCA play group. They were always together, holding hands... and he told me that he kissed her (which we had a talk about kissing someone who isn't family... ;)) and he would talk about her all the time. In talking with her mom, Saanvi would J was different, he said that he loved her... Jake was 4. Now, J really hasn't have anyone that he talks about...

My first crush was 4 or 5... Jeffery Fisher... *sigh* he was in my preschool/kindy class and our mom's were on the EMTs together. Of course, number one love was Bo Duke from the Duke of Hazzards... :D

Last year I think, my oldest, now 11, but 9 or 10 at the time, very briefly had a 'girlfriend' but it seemed to be more her idea than his and he was very very embarrassed whenever it was mentioned. It was a couple of week thing if that and I don't think he really understood full the concept of the whole thing. He's never shown any initiative on the subject or talked about any special girl, beyond his best friend, who's been his best friend nearly all his life. He's certainly more aware of intimate/sexual things than he was when he had the 'girlfriend' but only in a general way.

My younger son, almost 10, has told me that when he gets married he'll live nearby so his kids won't have to drive 18 hours to see their grandparents like he does. :)

Good boy! Nicholas asked me what college he should go to and I told him the local one. Drilling it in now, so he remembers then. :D

My little guy was in the kindergarten (he's a 4th grader now) when he had his first crush...Everyday he would come home and talk about how they were going to get married, and go out on dates to restaurants, and how she wanted him to kiss her...No matter how much I told him he was too young he just wouldn't hear it. I’m still not sure if they actually kissed. She ended up going to another school but we see her all the time. Back when Miley Cyrus was Hannah Montana he loved her and Sofie (I think that was her name) from Corey in the House…He always talked about Hannah Montana’s butt (yikes I know and he was only 6)…and yesterday he told me he saw the video of her twerking  ...OMG I have to put some parental controls on that iPad

JT was five when I caught him and the neighbor girl comparing their differences in in the back yard. She was six and that boy has liked older women ever since then! He is 22 now, his GF is 24 and he definitely had a type. Blonde and well endowed in all areas. But he is in no hurry to get married and make me a grandma and I am fine with that for now. LOL
